The list of GFTI colleges in India includes 40 institutions, namely, the Institute of Chemical Technology, BITS Ranchi, and the University of Hyderabad, among others. GFTIs or Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) are supported by the Indian government or one of its state governments, offering premier education facilities in engineering, architecture, planning, management, law, etc. Admission to GFTIs is c conducted primarily through the JEE Main 2026 exam qualification, and JoSAA counselling.

Vellore Institute of Technology is conducting the VITEEE 2026 exam from April 28 to May 3, 2026, in multiple slots. The entrance exam is scheduled in two shifts: Shift 1 (morning) from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, and Shift 2 (afternoon) from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Reportedly, over 2.5 lakh students are appearing for VITEEE 2026 to secure an engineering seat at VIT campuses across Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal or Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh).
