The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai, was founded in 1995 by the government. It is a division of NIFT, which was established in 1986 under the Indian government's Ministry of Textiles. NIFT currently has 18 campuses around India, including NIFT Delhi, NIFT Bengaluru, NIFT Patna, NIFT Gandhinagar, NIFT Hyderabad, and NIFT Kolkata.
The institute offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Design, Technology, and Management, including B.Des, B.F.Tech, MFM, and M.F.Tech. In addition, the institute provides a two-year UG Diploma in Fashion Fit and Style (FFS) and one-year PG Diplomas in Apparel Production and Merchandising (APM), Omni Channel Retailing, and E-commerce Management (OCREM), and Fashion Entrepreneurship (FE). In 2021, India Today placed NIFTC fourth in Fashion Design. Faculty members have extensive industry expertise, and the curriculum has been tailored to satisfy both present and future business expectations.
The NIFT certificate is internationally recognized. Students from ENSAIT in France and Swiss Textile College (STC) in Philadelphia and Nottingham visit the campus on a regular basis. In France, ENSAIT is looking for Bachelor of Fashion Technology students. Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, the University of Northampton in the United Kingdom, Saxion University in the Netherlands, the Queensland University of Technology in New Zealand, and AMFI in Amsterdam, among others, have partnered with it.

NIFT offers UG and PG programs. Students are admitted to these courses based on their performance on the entrance examination and campus counseling. The College Admission Authority will compile the top merit list after the campus counselling.
Admission to the undergraduate program at the NIFTC is dependent on performance in the qualifying examination. Regular undergraduate programs last three years, while B. Des, B.F Tech, and other preparation programs last one year.

The entrance test results for NIFT Chennai admission 2022 will be revealed in May/June 2022. On April 27, 2022, the GDPI (Group Discussion and Personal Interview) for Master's degree admissions will be completed. The Situation Test will be worth 20%, the CAT will be worth 50%, and the GAT will be worth 30% for B.Des admission. Candidates will be shortlisted for the NIFT 2022 counseling and seat allocation process using the final merit list.
Applicants for the B.F.Tech. program must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from a recognized board. B.F.Tech admission is based on a verified GAT score (General Ability Test). Admission to B.Des is based on a valid CAT (Creative Ability Test), GAT (General Ability Test), and Selection Test result.
Admission to the National Institute of Fashion Technology M.F.M. and M.F.Tech. program are determined by a valid GAT (General Ability Test) score, followed by a group discussion and personal interview. Candidates for the PG diploma course must have completed 10+2/Intermediate with any degree. Admission to the diploma and continuing education certificate program is determined by a merit-based personal interview. Persons with disabilities have 5% of seats reserved (Horizontal reservation for PwD, 40% or more disability across all sections SC, ST, OBC, and General).

Step 4: Payment of the NIFTC application fee is the final step.
