The NIFT Chennai cutoff ranks 2026 will depend on various factors like the choice of course, the difficulty level of the NIFT 2026 entrance exam , competitiveness, and more. The NTA will release the NIFT Chennai cutoff rank 2026 during the seat allocation and NIFT 2026 counselling process . The cutoff for UG and PG courses will be made public independently for each of the participating NIFTs in the form of opening and closing Category Merit Ranks (CMRs). NIFT 2026 results for Stage 1 will be released in the last week of April 2026. Fashion Communication, 90 to 550 for B.Des. Fashion Design, 180 to 1250 for B.Des. Textile Design, 30 to 510 for B.F.Tech. Apparel Production, and 130 to 350 for Master of Fashion Management (MFM), >100 to 180 for M.F.Tech. (Apparel Production), etc. for the General category. For OBC, the cutoffs will range from 450 to 850 for B.Des. Fashion Communication, 500 to 1300 for B.Des. Fashion Design, and 200 to 650 for Master of Fashion Management (MFM), among others."

NIFT Chennai Cutoff Year Wise Comparison 2024, 2023, 2022

The NIFT 2024 cutoffs for some courses, such as B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M have been announced along with opening and closing ranks for each category. For example, the most competitive class was B.Des in Fashion Communication at NIFT Chennai; the closing rank of the General category in AI quota stood at 330. For comparison of the last-round cutoff of MFM in the last three years, the rank has not been stable: the 2023 cutoff is 276 whereas in 2022, it was 543. Closing ranks for OBC candidates have ranged from 250 to 3792 in the AI quota for the last round.

The cutoff for the UG and PG courses that the 18 participating NIFT colleges provide will be made public separately for admission to BDes, BFTech, MDes, MFM, and MFTech courses. Moreover, the seats will be assigned depending on the applicant's category and selections for college campuses indicated during registration, following their NIFT merit rank 2026.
