National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has been set up by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power, to function as the National Apex Body for Human Resources Development of Indian Power Sector. NPTI (Eastern Region), Durgapur is one of the nine Regional Institutes of NPTI established in 1968. The Corporate Office of NPTI is located at NPTI Complex, Sector –33, Faridabad – 121 003 (Haryana) and other regional institutes located at Neyveli (Tamilnadu), Badarpur (New Delhi), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Guwahati (assam), Nangal (Punjab), Faridabad (Haryana) and Bengaluru (Karnataka). NPTI’s institutes are fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art-training infrastructure and also expert faculty with long years of professional and teaching experience with adequate research and development exposure. These Institutes are conducting a number of training programs for Power Engineers, Operators and Technicians in the areas of Thermal and Hydro Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution System and other related areas.NPTI (Eastern Region) Durgapur plays an important role in the field of HRD in the Power Sector as a leading Institute in the Eastern Region and till March 2010 has trained about 30000 Power Sector personnel in technical and managerial skill development programs including various professional and academic courses.To provide a quality, customer focused, satisfactory training courses with sustainable improvement plan and targeting the potential upcoming technology driven training requirement for power sector personnel NPTI has implemented Integrated Management System in line with ISO 9001:2008 and EMS 14001:2005 for a better understanding and follow up of internal improvement process and to deliver more value to the participating organizations of power sector.

National Power Training Institute Placements
There is a separate placement cell in our Institution. Placement cell plays a vital role in institute to organize the campus recruitment programs for PGDC Trainees, PDC Trainees & B.Tech Students. The Placement Cell provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews besides catering to other logistics.
NPTI (ER) has been the life-line for the Training & Academic activities of the institute. It has a huge collection of books on engineering, science and technology, which collectively support teaching and learning programs at the institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the institute are entitled to make use of the library facilities on taking library membership. NPTI(ER) Library subscribes to a number of Indian and foreign technical journals and periodicals.Well equipped Class rooms with LCD projection system and OHP etc for imparting formal, theoretical and technical knowledge.Hostels are available at NPTI (ER) to accommodate about 400 trainees .Those desirous of availing the hostel facilities will have to intimate in advance to obtain confirmation for the same. In case a participant does not stay in the hostel, he has to make his own arrangements to reach the Institute. Canteen facilities are also available in the Hostels. Recreation and indoor sports facilities like Table Tennis, Badminton, Carom, Chess etc. are available for trainees in Hostel, creating a congenial atmosphere of a Home away from Home. The hostel accommodation is provided to the trainees only for the period of training course.
