Placements Stats for All Degrees
Placements, internships and training for the students of the Institute are handled by the Career and Placement Cell (CnP). The cell consists of faculty members, staff and student volunteers. The Placement Session for the batch of 2013 marked the entry of IIT Mandi into the fray. Beginning with a batch of 94 students we achieved nearly 85% placements with an average package of 7.7 lakhs per annum across all the disciplines. The highest package offered was 18 lakhs for a few CS students. Many students also opted for higher studies and got admitted into various universities across the world including top management colleges in the country. For the second batch ready to graduate in 2014, in the initial window of the placement activities, nearly 70% students are already placed. In addition to Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Cisco, Finisar, TCS, IBM, Edifecs, L&T, Continental, Eclerix etc, PSUs like DRDO also visited campus. Six to eight weeks of Industrial Internship during the third year is a mandatory requirement in IIT Mandi curriculum. The CnP cell helps all students go to reputed industries to do their internships.
A faculty of international repute, vibrant student community, innovative curriculum, excellent technical and administrative staff and stress over indigenous technologies has amalgamated into the rapid growth of IIT Mandi. Many students in their bachelors take the opportunity to work with research scholars and gain a research oriented mindset.
The placement procedure can be summarised as follows :
The Placement Office (nodal point for placements at IIT Mandi) or the Placement Cell (a body of student representatives) sends invitations to companies/organizations along with relevant information.
The JNF provides the primary basis of communicating the details of the positions offered to the candidates. It is therefore, highly desirable that the JNF is completed in all respects and it would be advantageous if it were accompanied by relevant company literature with more details about the company.
Company/Organization fills in a JNF (Job Notification Form) containing details of the job offer (pay package, place(s) of posting, allowances and other bonuses) and sends it to the placement cell. The JNF is made available online to the students, along with any other information furnished by the company/organization.
Placement Office allots dates to companies for campus interviews based on certain details given by the companies. The companies/organizations confirm the dates with the Placement Office. These dates are then forwarded to the students
Interested students, who show their willingness to appear for the recruitment process of a company are asked to register for the same. Companies are provided with the resumes of interested students.
Companies come down to the campus on the allotted date(s) and conduct tests and/or interviews in accordance with their recruitment process. The company/organization is required to furnish the final list of students preferably on the date of interview.

Training & Placement Activites
Companies can directly interact with the student community via pre-placement talks and workshops. The college encourages the students to conduct such talks to get to know the students and give them an opportunity to interact with senior officials of the company. It also helps to strengthen the bond companies share with the institute.
The college also help companies in arranging summer/winter internships. This helps companies during the actual hiring process by evaluating the performance of the interns during their term at the company. Any other suggestions or questions regarding the registration and placement procedures are welcome.
