CU Sports Based Scholarships/ Free ships

The following scholarship schemes for the sports persons of various categories have been formulated.

  • ‘O’ Category – Special Scholarship, free stay, free food & 100%- tuition fee Concession.
  • ‘A’ Category – Free stay, free food&100% tuition fee Concession.
  • ‘B’ Category –  Gold Medal 100%,Silver Medal 75%,Bronze Medal 50% tuition fee concession.
  •  ‘C’ Category – Gold Medal 75%,Silver Medal65%, Bronze Medal  50% tuition fee Concession.
  • ‘D’ Category – 100% tuition fee for next Session.

CU Scholarships for Defense Personnel

As a tribute to our Armed forces, the University has devised a unique scheme for reserving seats in all courses for the wards of Indian Defense personnel of different categories. Wards admitted under the aforementioned scheme will also be given tuition fee waiver.

Armed Forces Educational Welfare Scheme

  • As a gesture of appreciation and salutation to our Defence forces who are always there to protect our borders and our lives, Chandigarh University has devised a Reservation cum Fee Waiver Scheme for Defence Personnel and their wards. This scheme is also a part of our social responsibility towards special sections of our society.  AFEWS is a unique scheme for reserving seats in all courses for the wards of Indian Defence personnel of different categories. Wards of different categories of defence personnel admitted under the above scheme will also be given benefit of free -ship in prescribed tuition fee. 5% seats in all courses of Chandigarh University shall be reserved for the wards of Defence Martyrs, their immediate dependent members and all defence personal serving and retired, their spouse and wards in the following manner. 

PRIORITY IN RESERVATION 

  • Order of priority under the scheme:-
  • War widows and wards of war causalities.
  • War injured and released defence personnel, spouses and their wards.
  • War disabled defence personnel, getting super-annuated, spouses and their wards.
  •  Wards of serving defence personnel.
  • Wards of retired defence personnel.

BENEFITS OF SCHOLARSHIP

  • Scholarships shall be as follows:-
  • Scholarship equivalent to 15% Tuition fee for the war widows and wards of war causalities, war injured and released defence personnel, spouse and their wards, war disabled defence personnel, getting super-annuated, spouse and their wards.
  • Scholarship equivalent to 10%Tuition Fee for the wards of serving and retired defence personnel.
  • Officers on study leave
  • In service defence officers who want to take up the courses during their study leave will be separately offered 1% seats subject to minimum of 1 seat in each course.
  • Scholarship will be given equivalent to 20% Tuition Fee.


NOTE :

  • Maximum 10% of total seats in each Course shall be offered under the above scheme.
  • The students admitted under the above scheme shall have to maintain a minimum of 75% (7.5 CGPA) marks, absolute discipline, without any supplementary/compartments failing which the incentives given shall stand withdrawn.

PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING

  • All the eligible students have to apply for the scholarship at the time of seeking admission on the prescribed format available with the admission cell / registrar office (Scholarship Branch).
  • Original documents for claiming the aforesaid scholarship are to be submitted to the scholarship branch on or before 31st August 2016, failing which, no scholarship request will be entertained under any circumstances.

VALIDITY OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

  • Initial concession shall be valid for one academic session. Thereafter, continuation of the same shall be determined on the basis of performance of the students as per the norms of the university.

Government Aided Scholarships

The University offers up to 100% scholarship for the students belonging to SC/ST categories under the Government scheme.

Merit-Cum-Means and Post Matric scholarships
for Minorities
1.For class XI to Ph.D
2. Belongs to Sikh,Muslim,Christians, Buddhist and parsis category .
3. Family income for Merit cum Means scholarship (MCM) from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- Per annum and for Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) Family income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 2,00,000/- Per annum
4. Should score 50% marks in previous final examination.
Special grant for SC girl students who are studying in Post Matric and Post graduate class. 1. Belongs to SC category of Punjab .
2. Should be resident of Punjab.
3. Family income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 60,965/- Per annum.

Scholarship scheme to D-Notified tribes

1. Belongs to D-Notified Tribes category of Punjab .
2. Should be resident of Punjab.
3. Family income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 50,000/- Per annum.

Special scholarship scheme for students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir (2 students per institute admitted through AICTE Centralized counseling) 1. Students belongs to State of Jammu and Kashmir.
2. Pursuing general degree course, Engineering and medical studies.
3. Pursuing the course in institution located outside the state of J&K.
4. Who has passed the class XII or equivalent exam from the J&K Board or CBSE.
5. Income ceiling will be below Rs 6,00,000/-per annum.

Scholarships scheme for students with Disabilities (Trust Fund) 1. Disability Certificate

3. Scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend for persuing the course.
4. Students should have not less than 50% marks at higher secondary /graduation level.

Scholarships scheme for students with Disabilities (National Fund) 1. Monthly income of the beneficiary from all sources should not be more than Rs. 15,000/- (Rs.1,80,000 per annum).

Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme for dependent wards/ widows of ex- service man / Ex- Indian coast guard and their widows 1. Students should have scored 60% and above in minimum educational qualification i.e 10 +2 /Diploma /Graduation.
2. Students who are dependent wards/ widows of ex -service man and ex- coast guard personnel who died in harness/ disable due to causes attributable to military service /post guard service , irrespective of the rank .
3. Dependent wards of ex- service man / ex- coast guard and their widows (below office rank only ).

Ishan Uday (for the students belong to North Eastern States) 1. Student with domicile of NER who have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam from a school situated within NER through any recognized board and have secured admission in degree course under recognized institute within and outside the states of NER.
2. Income of the parents should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum.
3. Certificate of income by the competent authority for the state government in which the student is domiciled.
4. Domicile State certificate by the competent Authority.
5. Affidavit on Rs. 50/- stamp paper from the student / parent duly attested by SDM/First Class Magistrate / Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tehsildar) for not availing any other scholarship.

International Academic Scholarships

To reward outstanding academic achievements, Chandigarh University offers an International Student Scholarships scheme. Chandigarh University is committed to provide International students with opportunities to obtain financial support for their study program through a wide range of scholarships.

Type of Scholarship offered to International students.

SAARC SCHOLARSHIP

  • A flat Scholarship of 25% on semester Program Fee will be offered to all International applicants from SAARC countries taking admission in UG and PG Programs.

Important Information for Scholarships

  • No separate scholarship test for International applicants for above scholarships.
  • Please note that applicant must be eligible for their selected program and be a citizen of a country other than India.
  • Additional eligibility requirements may apply for selected scholarships.
  • Scholarship will be given, subject to the verification of Original Qualifying Mark sheets, Transcripts and Certificates of International students at the time of reporting/joining the University.
  • Scholarship offer will be applicable only on the Program fee for the regular duration of the program and will not cover any Examination/Backlog/Reappear fee.
  • Scholarship is not applicable on the Hostel/Residential facility fee.
  • Chandigarh University International Scholarship offer shall not be clubbed with any other prevailing scholarship scheme of the University.

NON - SAARC SCHOLARSHIP
