Vishwakarma Institute Of Information Technology - VIIT
VIIT was established in 2002 and is ISO certified institute which was recertified thrice. Currently college have 5 UG and 5 PG programs and also 3 research centers for PhD programs with student strength close to 3000. Academic year 2016-17 has started as year of great achievements for the institute. It gives me immense pleasure to share with you all that National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded ‘A Grade’ to VIIT on the basis of assessment conducted from 3 days in August 2016.
As all of you know, VIIT got Accreditation by NBA twice and four of UG programs were accredited for two years in July 2015. In this year, all these four programs got extension of accreditation by one more year upto July 2018.
VIIT was ranked 6th in Maharashtra and 14th in India in Survey of India’s Top Engineering Colleges by CSR in 2015 and was given AAA ratings by Career 360 Magazine in the survey for ‘India’s best engineering colleges 2015’ VIIT was awarded as ‘Outstanding Engineering Institute of West’ by Vijayvani National Education Awards function. At VIIT, we have well qualified and dedicated faculty and staff. 24 of our faculty members are PhD holders and more 42 are pursuing their doctoral research. Non-teaching staff as well is encouraged to improve their qualifications. I am happy to announce that from our technical staff 2 completed ME, 4 completed BE and 1 completed Diploma in year 2015.Some of VIIT faculty members are working on 10 different research projects funded by different Government Agencies such as ISRO, AICTE and RGSTC with a funding 1.35 Cr whereas 14 BCUD projects are going on with sanctioned funding by SPPU of Rs. 17.23 lakh. VIIT also received sanction of Rs. 6.1 lakh funds from BCUD under QIP for conducting 4 faculty development programs such as conference, STTPs and workshop. Total funding received by VIIT till date is more than Rs. 2.5 Cr. This year, two patents were filed by faculty and one by a student of Civil Engineering. 8 copyrights have been received by faculty and 69 technical papers have been published by faculty.
VIIT is probably the only private engineering institute to have signed MoU with TIFR – a very important and prestigious institute for collaboration in Research and education. 100+ students are working on various BE and ME projects for TIFR under this MoU. Students are working on different projects sponsored industry and also in collaboration with Indian Institute of Astro Physics, IISER, IUCAA etc. Student internship program is getting stronger and stronger. 67 students of Civil engineering completed internship of 3 weeks this year with Builders Association of India. 33 students of E&TC, 35 students of Computer Engg., 12 students of I.T, 17 students of Mechanical Engineering did their internship of 2 weeks. The students are exposed to industrial work culture because of these internships.Our students also shine in the toppers list. Ms. Deshmukh Sacachivi was 1st in the merit list whereas Mr. Tanniwar Shashank Chandrakant stood 1st in SE E&TC, Mr. Pandey Avinash Stood 5th during BE Electronics University Examinations in May 2015 Mr. Sabir Murtuza Zoher of Mechanical Engineering stood 9th in BE University Examinations conducted in May2015. VIIT cultural team Avishkar secured 2nd position in prestigious ‘Firodiya Karandak’ Competitions and also bagged 5 individual prizes for Direction, Singing, puppet show etc.
To strengthen the industries connect further and to bridge the gap between industry and academia, we have established Industry Advisory Boards (IAB) for every department. Industry experts meet once a semester and give valuable suggestions so that additional inputs can be given to the students to make them industry ready and employable. Based on their suggestions, more and more value added courses and training programs are being offered to students at concessional rates at VIIT to help them get good placement.I am very proud to share that the total placement for year 2015-16 reached 264 and for current BE batch i.e. year 2016-17 the placement number has already crossed 179.
