A three-day worldwide meet of undergraduate medical college students began at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) from 22nd April 2017. Dr. M. K. Bhan, the President of Management Committee of JIPMER inaugurated the meet which was held under the banner CONNAISSANCE 2017. More than thousand participants from the colleges of India and abroad are taking part in the CONNAISSANCE 2017.

The President of Management Committee of JIPMER said that the event would contribute to build-up a student’s academic and research aptitude. He further added that experience and education are essential tools for sharpening such skills and capabilities of the students. He also introduced a souvenir of the conference.
The Director of the JIPMER institute, Dr. S.C. Parija claimed that CONNAISSANCE 2017 is the first such event held in our country. He also appreciated the students of JIPMER for holding this international meet. He informed about the new innovative medical curriculum adopted by JIPMER this year. He ensured that introduction of this curriculum will make a drastic effect to help the students in improving and strengthening their abilities and capabilities in academic and research.

Recently Indian Council of Medical Research gave permission to JIPMERs undergraduate, postgraduate and post-doctoral students for research purpose so that they can carry out the projects in their labs. The dean of JIPMER institute had also revealed that the students will be allowed to visit any other reputed government-sponsored international or national labs or hospitals of their choice during vacations.
