Russias one of the oldest and prestigious higher education institutions, Tver State Medical University is a public university located in Tver, Tver Oblast. The history of TSMA can be traced back to the year 1902, when the Dental School was founded in St. Petersburg by I. A. Pashutin. It was only in 1936 when the Leningrad Dental Institute was founded, which later became theTver State Medical Academy. In 1986, the academy was awarded the Nations Friendship National Award for its outstanding contribution to global education, collaboration and development. The institution has been consistently ranked among the top 10 medical institutions according to the annual rating of 48 Russian Medical Educational Institutions. The institute operates under the supervision of the MInistry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation. It has also been approved and recognised by NMC and WHO.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Today, Tver State Medical University is the largest scientific research and educational centre in Russia. The academy has a complex of buildings designed to conduct research, laboratory studies, lectures, practical classes and auxiliary services. It has a total of six faculties dedicated to general medicine, dental medicine, pediatrics, pharmacology, advanced nursing education and postgraduate studies. All in all, it consists of 63 theoretical and clinical departments occupying 6,000 beds in different hospitals specialised in tuberculosis, oncology, infectious and skin and STDs. In addition, TSMA has its own dental clinic with more than 200 chairs and is considered one of the most advanced clinics in the country.

Accomplishments & Alumni

TSMU prides itself on training over 15,000 students to date, across faculties. Its alumni have been successful in making their mark in their respective fields of study not only in Russia but across the world. The principal breakthroughs made by TSMU have primarily been in the fields of abdominal surgery, orthodontics, dental surgery, general pathology, chemistry, ophthalmology, public health, microbiology, genetics, biology and physiology. Further, the academy is recognised by the UN agencies of healthcare and education and scientific research at the academy is carried out in a variety of fields in medical science. TSMU is also noted for its extensive clinical and lab base and remarkable and highly-qualified teaching staff.

Student Diversity & Employment Opportunities

Tver State Medical Academy is currently home to over 4,500 international students from 57 countries and majorly from India and Sri Lanka. In fact, every third student in the academy is an overseas student. With commitment to equipping students with required skills for a quick transition into the professional medical world, TSMU trains students based on modern methodology and up-to-date equipment. During the last 3.5 years of their study at the academy, students are offered extensive practical training in the fields of gynecology, public health and prevention, herapy, surgery and obstetrics. Graduates of the Faculty of General Medicine at TSMU work in all regions of Russia and in leading countries like Canada, Australia and more.
