California State University-Chico is one of the top-ranked and second oldest university that falls under the California State University System of 23 state universities. The CSU system is a combination of all the top universities that are present in California State to provide higher education to students. Beginning its journey on the grounds of an 8-acre cherry orchard, donated by John Bidwell, in 1887, CSU Chico began as a State Normal School for Chico. Continuing its journey, 1921, the school was converted into a Chico State Teachers University, which in 1935 was transformed into Chico State College. California State University-Chico was established as a University in 1971. Ever since US News & World Report began ranking the institutions in 1998, California State University-Chico has been ranked as one of the top-10 regional public universities in the West.

COVID-19 Response

As per the mandated regulations, California State University, Chico has set up regulations and procedures to ensure the safety of the students and staff. Currently, the Fall 2020 classes at California State University, Chico will be conducted in online mode. Courses that require an in-person learning methodology will be modified as per the social distancing norms of six feet between two people.

  • Disinfection of high-touch points across the campus is being carried out by essential personnel.

  • Directive towards reduced student numbers inside the campus including student accommodation has been released. Apart from accessing the campus facilities and accommodation, students are requested to stay at their homes.

  • Classrooms and administrative offices have adapted the social distancing protocols.

  • Faculty and Staff at California State University, Chico has received intensive training on the methods of delivering education in online and blended modes.

Non-Resident Tuition Fee Waivers

Meritorious students who wish to receive a degree from California State University are eligible to apply for the non-Resident Tuition Fee Waivers. The fee waiver is available to any international student aspiring to or pursuing an undergraduate degree at the University.

Duration: 1 Academic Year

Eligibility: Candidates must:

  • Be seeking a full-fledged degree from CSU Chico. Those pursuing short-term or non-degree courses at the university are not eligible.

  • Either be admitted or continue their education at the university.

  • Have secured a minimum GPA of 3.3 or equivalent.

  • All candidates must outline their financial needs to avail the scholarship.

Emergency Short-Term Loan Programme

Students who require a source of funding on a temporary basis can avail the Emergency Short-Term Loan programme, which should be paid within 90 days.
