Suresh Prabhu, the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, has inaugurated FDDI Bihar at Bihta. With an establishment cost of 115.95 crores, the institution spreads across 10 acres of land.

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) Bihar has been inaugurated by the Union Commerce & Industry Minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu at Bihta in Patna district. The institution campus is laced with all the basic facilities that will be required by the students and the faculties. A ‘centre of excellence’ will also be set within the campus with an initiated amount of Rs 14 crore. The motive for this centre of excellence will be the promotion and recognition of ‘innovation and efficiency’ in the leather industry by the students of this institution.

For the establishment of the campus of Footwear Design and Development Institute, the government has given 10 acres of land without any levied cost, added Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Sushil Kumar Modi. A sum of 115.95 crores has been utilized for setting up FDDI in Bihar.

Sushil Kumar Modi also said that the institution would provide a three-year and a four-year course for the interested aspirants of the leather industry. The courses will be in fashion design and footwear design related to the industry. The institution will also produce approx 300 leather industry professionals every academic year with proper training of the industry.

Adding further, Mr Modi also said that the institution will be laced with modern equipment and machines. This installation will help students to learn the techniques of cutting, structuring and finishing the design. Making and learning computer-based designing will also become easy and quick with the installation of the new machines. An agreement with the designing schools of Italy and England has also been signed for disseminating proper training and guidance to the students of international levels and standards.
