Army Institute of Law Overview

The Army Institute of Law Mohali was established in 1999 by the Indian Army under the Army Welfare Education Society. The institute was initially established in Patiala and shifted to its current location in Mohali in July 2003. AIL is affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala and is approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI). It is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a B grade. The Army Institute of Law rankings by the NIRF 2022 are 26th out of the Top 30 institutes of India and 10th by India Today in the Top Emerging Colleges category. 

The Army Institute of Law course admissions are done in two courses namely BA LLB and LLM. Below we mention the detailed admission process for admission in Army Institute of Law.

Army Institute of Law Admission Criteria

  • The Army Institute of Law admission is based on an entrance test conducted by the institute itself. The  Army Institute of Law Entrance Test (AIL LET) is held online under the supervision of AWES for admission to 75 seats for the wards of army personnel.
  • AIL will hold online LET under the supervision of AWES for admission to 75 seats for the wards of army personnel.
  • A separate admission exam would be required for 05 seats in the All-India Category.
  • Both Army and All India Category candidates will be invited to counselling based on their written test results. If an applicant is deemed eligible for admission on the day of counselling, they will be admitted.
  • It has been announced that admission to 20 seats in the Punjab Category would be determined by a combination of 10+2 merits set out by the nominated institution.

Army Institute of Law Scholarships

Students can access the various scholarships by filling in the Army Institute of Law scholarship form available at the institute. Below we mention the various scholarships available:

  • The Tata Memorial Scholarship is available to the children of Army servicemen who have achieved first or second place for four consecutive years. Eight students get cash prizes of Rs 20,000 (1st place) and Rs 15,000 (2nd place) (2nd position).
  • The Abhimanyu Scholarship is awarded to the AIL Law Entrance Test winner.
  • A female student with the greatest grades in the first three years of a five-year BA LLB integrated curriculum is awarded the Angad Singh Dhindsa Scholarship of Rs 2,000,000.

Additionally, students can also apply for the following industry-sponsored scholarships:

  • The State Bank of India provides a scholarship of Rs 50,000 to the top-scoring students in Economics and Law.
  • PNB Housing Finance Ltd. provides nine merit-based scholarships for Rs 11,500,000 to outstanding students.
  • Bajaj Allianz awards a scholarship of Rs 50,000 to the best students in Law Evidence and Torts Law.

The Army Institute of Law Mohali placements are conducted by the placement cell at the institute. The primary focus of the placement cell is to provide students with practical experiences that can be included on their resumes and contribute to their overall development. It is the institution's responsibility to provide its students, for exposure, and placement options along with internship experiences throughout the summer and winter holidays.

Placement assistance is available at a high level at the institute. In the most recent few years, 70 and 80 percent of students have been placed successfully. In addition, students can participate in internship programmes offered by public and private enterprises in their particular fields.

The institute’s student members and the Placement Officer play a critical role in ensuring that the Army Institute of Law, Mohali grows to its full potential. Through regular campus involvement, the team maintains strong ties with prominent businesses and organisations. There are various ways in which the institution engages with the community, including webinars, seminars, and boot camps. These workshops cover a wide range of topics during the Army Institute of Law placements drive, to help students learn how to get their hands on real-world experiences 

The placement cell's mission is to improve ties between the university and its former students. Every year, alumni from the institution have lifted the standard for their achievements in the legal arena in the business sector. The future of this heritage rests squarely with the institute, and it want to build on it vigorously.

Overall: If we talk about the overall rating i would really rate Army law college Mohali , A good college to go for. When i talk about good college i mean the studies, faculty, fun, area and everything.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really very good and comfortable. The infrastructure is so well designed that it consists of everything you require in a law school

Hostel: The hostels are very hygienic and well maintained, you will find the appropriate room with all the essential requirements like table, chairs, bed , cupboard , bucket and etc and the size of the room is big and comfortable
