    IIT Kharagpur GATE Cutoff 2023: M.Tech Admission Process, Selection Criteria, Previous Year Cutoffs

    IIT Kharagpur GATE Cutoff 2023 - The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur will commence the IIT KGP M.Tech admissions soon at the official website. Interested candidates have to register at the COAP portal besides filling out the application form for IIT Kharagpur M.Tech 2023 admissions. The GATE 2023 cutoff will be released on March 16, 2023, on the official website.

    Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has released the GATE COAP 2023 dates on its official website at The GATE COAP  registration 2023 will start on March 18, 2023. Candidates with valid GATE scores of 2023, 2022, and 2021 can participate in the GATE 2023 COAP counselling. COAP stands for Common Offer Acceptance Portal, where all GATE 2023 participating colleges and PSUs will post their offers within a stipulated time frame. By registering at COAP, candidates can obtain admission/employment offers from all the universities.

    How to Register for GATE COAP 2023?

    To apply for GATE COAP 2023 follow the instruction given below. 

    • Visit the COAP 2023 official website at
    • If you have already registered on GATE COAP 2023 portal, log in using the credentials you got through email/SMS.


    • Click on the Register link if you are a new user
    • Enter the GATE Papers information and click Register Now
    • You can add another row for further GATE papers
    • To enroll in COAP, you must have at least one GATE Paper registration number. You can also add additional GATE Papers after registering
    • After successfully registering, log in using your COAP ID and password
    • To verify application details at all Institutions and registered GATE paper(s) in COAP, go to the Dashboard.
    • To add extra GATE papers, click Applicant Information and then Add Row.
    • You may also remove any more rows for GATE Papers
    • After you're through editing your submissions, click Final Submit 

    Through the GATE COAP site, and candidates can check the admissions provided by the participating institutes. Candidates must log into the candidate site with credentials to verify their status. After the seat allotment is complete, applicants must confirm the seat allotment by selecting one of the following options: "Accept and Freeze", "Retain and Wait", "Reject and Wait", or "Reject". Applicants who have not been assigned a seat will have to wait for further rounds.

      MHRD Launches Research Oriented Schemes - IMPRESS and SPARC

      Prakash Javadekar, Union HRD Minister has launched two new web portals namely, IMPRESS and SPARC. These are two separate schemes that aim to build a research ecosystem in universities and higher educational institutes.

      While addressing a press conference, Javadekar stated that a country can prosper through innovation which is only possible through a good research project. Therefore, the main focus of the government at the moment is to launch relevant research projects.

      MHRD IMPRESS Scheme

      IMPRESS, which stands for Impactful Policy Research in Social Sciences has been launched with a vision to identify relevant research in social sciences so that it can bring positive impact on governance and society.

      It will provide social science researchers across the country with an opportunity to undertake a research project. Social science researchers from any institute, universities and few private institutions are eligible for the same. The total cost of the scheme is around Rs. 414 crores for a period until March 2021. The implementing agency for IMPRESS is the Indian Council of Social Science and Research.

      MHRD SPARC Scheme

      SPARC stands for Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration. The primary objective of the SPARC scheme is to build a research ecosystem in the higher educational institutions and universities of the country. It plans to facilitate academic and research collaborations between Indian and foreign universities.

      The total amount allotted to the implementation of the scheme is Rs. 418 crores for over 600 joint research projects. According to Javadekar, through this scheme, the government aims to provide the best research facilities to researchers in India which will ultimately stop the practice of brain drain. The implementing agency for SPARC is IIT Kharagpur.

      IIT Kgp Students Win EXL Excellence Quotient 2019

      Two teams from IIT Kharagpur have won 3 out of 4 awards in the final round of EXL Excellence Quotient 2019. Two students from team ninety degrees won the first spot and two students from the team tesseract got the second spot

      EXL Excellence Quotient (EQ) is an annual case study to test the skills of students such as problem identification, structured and methodical approach, logical thinking among the students. Students from 20 premier academic institutes across India including institutes such as 7 NITs and 8 IITs took part in the competition. Total 698 teams had registered out of which 38 qualified in the first round and just 6 teams went ahead to the second round and reached the finals.

      The challenge was to design fraud detection methods and also reduce the cost of investigation pertaining to the insurance industry. Participants had to suggest ways to improve the fraud detection process regarding accuracy as well as the time taken for the entire process.

      The winning teams analysed the insurance claims using these metrics and fraudulent claims were identified. They built an algorithm which supported all the offerings that an insurance company has on its roadmap and they presented fraud prevention methods such as telematics plug which can help a company turn around its revenue figures.

      The winning team got a cash prize of Rs.1.25 lakh as well as certificates and a winning trophy. The runner ups, team Tesseract got a cash prize of Rs.60, 000. Pre-placement offers were also given to the winning teams.

      The case study contest provided participants a platform for learning and dealing with real-life consulting problems faced by organisations and how they can apply their academic learning to come up with solutions for such problems.

      What is Online Remote Proctored Exam (ORPE)?

      Online Remote Proctored Exam (ORPE) is a contactless exam where the candidates will be able to take an exam from home by using their Laptop/ Desktop or Mobile. The candidates will be monitored through Web Camera or Front Camera during the exam, and there is no scope for malpractice. This mode of exam has become popular since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. So, candidates should be aware of the VITEEE exam day guidelines and folllow it. 

      Requirements for VITEEE 2023 ORPE

      As the candidates will need to take the VITEEE 2023 exam from home, the following requirements are mandatory to take the exam –

      1.Primary Device

      Laptop/ Desktop with a Web Camera, accepted laptop with their operating system are

      • Apple macOS
      • Microsoft Windows
      • Ubuntu Linux

      2. Secondary Device

      Candidates can use the secondary device mentioned below

      • Android mobile device with a front-facing camera
      • iOS mobile device with a front-facing camera, with minimum OS version iOS 13 or above,

      3) Network connection

      • A stable network connection to each device with minimum bandwidth of 256 kpbs should be available throughout the test window period i.e. two hours (30 minutes for pretest checking and 90 minutes for actual test).
      • The test platform will assess the network and device capacity and will allow the candidate to proceed only on the basis of satisfaction of the test requirements. Otherwise, the candidate may request for rescheduling.
      • There is no scope for retest once candidates log-in and start their test
      • The test will be terminated if there is any interruptions for longer than 5 minutes

      4) Mock Examination

      • Two VITEEE 2023 mock examinations to check the device compatibility will be available online. The link will be sent to the registered email / mobile of the candidate
      • The applicants are requested to make arrangements for these devices and networks.

      How to Take VITEEE 2023 OREP?

      VIT University is conducting two proctored mock tests before the actual exam. The candidates will need to practice two tests to have an idea of the actual VITEEE exam pattern & mode. The dates and slots for mock tests have already been notified by VIT, and slot booking can be done accordingly. The candidates must note that the time & slot for Mock Test 1, 2 and Actual Exam will be the same. The process to practice the VITEEE 2022 mock test is as follows –
