IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced Cutoff 2026 (Expected)

The expected IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff for 2026 is likely to become a bit more relaxed than last year. Computer Science, which closed around rank 450 in 2025 for the General category, may shift to about 460–470 because nearly 1.85 lakh students are expected to qualify while the total seat count stays the same at 1,598. This could slightly increase the number of admissions but may put extra pressure on core lab facilities. Mechanical Engineering may also ease to around rank 4,050 based on JoSAA trends and expected exam difficulty, which could help more OBC and SC candidates secure seats while keeping top branches equally competitive.

  • Mechanical engineering is likely to become more accessible compared to previous years.
  • Reserved-category admissions may rise due to easier closing ranks in mid-tier branches.
  • IIT Kharagpur BTech cutoff in 2026 projects General closing ranks from 470 for Computer Science to 11200 for Mining, adjusted from 2025 JoSAA round 5 data.

IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025

The IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 (JoSAA Round 5, All India quota, gender-neutral seats) reflects intense demand for core branches, with Computer Science closing at rank 450 for the General category, a marginal relaxation of 18 ranks from 2024’s 285 that allowed roughly 10-12 additional candidates entry. Overall seat fills reached 99.2% by Round 5, with only niche branches moving to Spot/CSAB rounds.

  • Key Trend 2025 vs 2024: Most branches eased by 10–80 ranks owing to a 4 % increase in total seats (1,824 now) and 2.51 lakh JEE Advanced qualifiers, yet CSE, AI and Electronics remained under 1,500, underlining sustained preference for tech streams.
  • Seat Matrix Insight: CSE offers 79 gender-neutral + 20 female-only (supernumerary) seats; a similar 15–20 % female supernumerary across branches helped female General closing ranks stay significantly higher (e.g., CSE female-only closed at 1,218).

IIT Kharagpur Cutoff for CSE

The IIT Kharagpur cutoff for CSE 2025 concluded at 450 for the general gender-neutral category in JoSAA Round 5, an 8.4% rise from 2024's 415, accommodating 35 more admits and diversifying the 120-seat cohort by 5% in regional representation, though it heightened female quota pressure (closing at 199). OBC-NCL reached 209 (up from 208), SC 102 (from 117), ST 68 (from 67), and EWS 78 (steady), with the shift enabling fuller reserved fills—SC/ST up 3%—but underscoring a 20% applicant surge in tech streams.

  • Preparation Tip: Aim for 240+ in JEE Advanced Paper 2 for buffer, per 2025's 93%ile qualifier correlation.
  • Previous Year Comparison: 2024: 415; 2023: 279—8% yearly climb eases access amid 48,000 participants.

IIT Kharagpur GATE Cutoff 2026 (Expected)

IIT Kharagpur GATE cutoff 2026 for MTech is projected to reach 755 for computer science for the General category, supported by approximately 1,000 COAP seats. Aerospace may settle near 525, while Biotechnology is expected to be around 605, with all three streams showing proportional dips across EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST categories. The estimates suggest a stable admission trend where higher-demand programmes like CS continue to maintain stronger cutoffs, whereas Aerospace and Biotechnology remain moderate and more accessible for reserved categories.

  • Forecast Basis: February 2026 normalised scores, 5% inflation trend.
  • Category Adjustment: EWS/OBC at 92% GEN, enhancing 30% reserved access.
  • Biotechnology is expected to maintain a mid-range cutoff that appeals to candidates seeking interdisciplinary options.
  • The projected scores imply that competitive branches may see faster seat acceptance during COAP rounds.

IIT Kharagpur CAT Cutoff 2025

IIT Kharagpur CAT cutoff for 2025 for the MBA programme at the Vinod Gupta School of Management stayed around the 90 percentile for General and EWS candidates. There were no sectional cutoffs, but the final selection still gave higher weight to the Quant section. With nearly 2.5 lakh students taking CAT and only 120 seats available, most seats were filled by the second round. For OBC candidates, the cutoff stayed near 81, while SC/ST/PwD categories remained close to 60. These steady cutoffs made the interview process more competitive, reducing the number of shortlisted candidates slightly compared to the previous year.

  • Selection Breakdown: CAT 40% in PI shortlist, academics 20%, plus +4 female marks boosting diversity to 35%.

IIT Kharagpur sets cutoff for different courses. As far as the UG engineering and B.Sc courses are concerned, opening and closing ranks of JEE Advanced are the sole criteria for determining the cutoff. Candidates who clear the cutoff specified by the institute shall be declared eligible for admission in various programmes. For M.Tech courses, GATE cutoff is prepared by IIT Kharagpur, and the candidates who clear the cutoff specified by the institute shall be considered for the admission process. However, the cutoff is not the sole criterion for granting admission to eligible candidates.

IIT Kharagpur uses the cutoff to shortlist the candidates eligible for further stages of the admission process. This system is most prevalent in the M.Tech admission process of IIT Kharagpur. For B.Tech courses, the seat is allocated as per the JEE Advanced rank and the normalized score of the candidates. IIT Kharagpur cutoff for various courses is released during the admission process. The cutoff list for various courses (except for UG engineering courses) is published on the official website of IIT Kharagpur.

Dear Student,

We think that you have mistaken Mohammed Sahil Akhtar for Shoaib Akhtar, as per the records of the JEE Advanced exams; Md. Sahil Akhtar took JEE Advanced 2023 and secured a 99th rank. However, Akhtar dropped the vision of getting into IIT during counselling to pursue a double major in computer science and physics at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He realised the opportunity to get into IT for research after taking the IOAA Olympiad in Georgia. Sahil is from Kolkata and completed his intermediate from Delhi Public School (DPS), Ruby Park, and he appeared for the JEE main 2023 for the April session. We hope that we have answered your query successfully. Stay tuned to CollegeDekho for the latest updates related to JEE Main 2025 and JEE Advanced 2025. We wish you success in your future!

The admissions process has been started for session 2024 and the eligibility rriteria to be eligible, candidates must achieve a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their 10+2 examination, with Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, and English as subjects. Alternatively, they can qualify through the JEE Mains, LPUNEST, or CUET exams. However, if a candidate has not studied English as a subject, the requirement for English may be waived off if the candidate has studied in English medium in their qualifying exam. There is a 5% relaxation in aggregate marks for candidates from North-East states, Sikkim, or for Defence Personnel and their Dependents, as well as Wards of Kashmiri Migrants. LPUNEST will not be required if the candidate's JEE Mains Percentile is equal to or above 80 Percentile. BSc in Agriculture is a broad-based course with great potential. It deals with things like food production, horticulture, animal rearing, rural economy and rural development, environmental health, etc. Other industries may face downsizing but agriculture can never fall prey because “food” is the basic necessity for life. Feeding the world will never face a recession or a slowdown. In fact, the development in technology, research, and innovation has multiplied the scope of agriculture in a big way. BSc Agriculture is a 4-year undergraduate professional course offered by various government and private universities in India. The demand for graduates with a degree in agriculture is increasing every day in India and abroad.
