IIT Kharagpur expected cutoff 2026 for B.Tech predicts JEE Advanced ranks under 500 for CSE General, based on 2025 JoSAA trends, where ranks closed at 466. M.Tech GATE scores around 750 for Computer Science, MBA CAT at 90 percentile, and MSc JAM at 82 for Geology. IIT Kharagpur cutoffs for 2026 admissions depend on 2026 exams not yet conducted; predictions use 2025 data from JoSAA, COAP, and official reports. Expect minor increases in ranks due to rising applicant numbers, with 1800 B.Tech seats allocated similarly.
IIT Kharagpur determines its MBA cutoff primarily based on VGoSM Entrance Test percentile trends, exam difficulty level, and institute-level seat availability. The expected VGoSM Entrance Test cutoff varies by category, with the General category typically requiring the highest percentile for shortlisting, followed by OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories. The final cutoff may vary each year depending on competition level and the overall difficulty of the VGoSM Entrance Test.

The expected IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff for 2026 is likely to become a bit more relaxed than last year. Computer Science, which closed around rank 450 in 2025 for the General category, may shift to about 460–470 because nearly 1.85 lakh students are expected to qualify while the total seat count stays the same at 1,598. This could slightly increase the number of admissions but may put extra pressure on core lab facilities. Mechanical Engineering may also ease to around rank 4,050 based on JoSAA trends and expected exam difficulty, which could help more OBC and SC candidates secure seats while keeping top branches equally competitive.
| Branch | General (Expected Closing) | EWS | OBC-NCL | SC | ST |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 470 | 80 | 215 | 110 | 70 |
| Electrical Engineering | 1610 | 255 | 710 | 410 | 205 |

IIT Kharagpur sets cutoff for different courses. As far as the UG engineering and B.Sc courses are concerned, opening and closing ranks of JEE Advanced are the sole criteria for determining the cutoff. Candidates who clear the cutoff specified by the institute shall be declared eligible for admission in various programmes. For M.Tech courses, GATE cutoff is prepared by IIT Kharagpur, and the candidates who clear the cutoff specified by the institute shall be considered for the admission process. However, the cutoff is not the sole criterion for granting admission to eligible candidates.
IIT Kharagpur uses the cutoff to shortlist the candidates eligible for further stages of the admission process. This system is most prevalent in the M.Tech admission process of IIT Kharagpur. For B.Tech courses, the seat is allocated as per the JEE Advanced rank and the normalized score of the candidates. IIT Kharagpur cutoff for various courses is released during the admission process. The cutoff list for various courses (except for UG engineering courses) is published on the official website of IIT Kharagpur.
The IIT Kharagpur Cutoff GATE 2023 for SC/ST students is 21.6 for M.Tech in CS, 17.55 for M.Tech in CE, and so on.
To get admission to M.tech programmes offered by IIT Kharagpur, you need to pass the cutoffs. Once you do that, you need to sign up for the COAP or CCMT counselling.
Every year, different GATE-participating colleges take up the responsibility of releasing the GATE cutoff. As for the year 2023, the cut-off was released by IIT Kanpur.

The JEE Advanced cutoff for IIT Kharagpur CSE in 2025 became a little more relaxed compared to the previous year. The General-category cutoff moved to rank 450 in JoSAA Round 5, which is softer than 2024’s rank 415, allowing about 35 more students to join and improving the overall mix of the batch. This happened in a year with nearly 1.82 lakh qualifiers competing for around 120 seats, including the 10% supernumerary seats for female candidates. For other categories, OBC-NCL closed at 209, SC at 102, ST at 68, and EWS at 78, showing small and balanced shifts across groups. Overall, about 93% of seats were filled by the final rounds.
For IIT Kharagpur in 2026, aiming for a JEE Advanced rank below 470 gives a good chance for CSE, since the cutoff may rise slightly from last year’s 450 due to more qualifiers and the same 1,598 seats. Mid-level branches like mining may become easier to get, possibly closing near 11,500. Factors such as exam difficulty and JoSAA mock cutoffs after the May results will influence the final ranks. This small shift may help increase OBC and SC admissions by around 3%, but top branches are still expected to fill early, mostly staying within the top 500 ranks.
IIT Kharagpur MBA 2025 cutoff for admission to the Vinod Gupta School of Management stayed at the 90th percentile for General and EWS candidates, the same as last year. The institute selects around 120 students from nearly 2.5 lakh CAT takers, giving 40% weight to the personal interview. There are no sectional cutoffs, but the process places extra emphasis on Quant, accounting for about half of the CAT score considered. The cutoff for OBC candidates was around 81, while SC, ST, and PwD categories are considered from about the 60th percentile. The average MBA package has risen by about 8%, reaching nearly INR 28.6 lakh.
