Overall: The college life is very vibrant and full of fests and fun. There are 3 major fests at iit bhu, the biggest one is kashiyatra the socio- cultural fest which happens to be in the month of January. Our sports fest is spardha which is Asia's largest sports fest happens in the month of October. And the technex the technical fest. There is the facility of library with all types of books , journals and research papers with ac in the reading halls. Although the classes lacks the facility of ACs which is the down side of iit bhu. There are many types of groups and clubs at iitbhu around 30 clubs which provides growth opportunity to oneself.
Placement: The placement and job opportunity is the best in our college amoung many iits. We rank 3rd in terms of placement among all the iits. The average package of iit bhu is around 20 to 25 lakh per annum for all the branchs and highest package is 1.2 crore as per 2023 -24 stats. The percentage of students getting placed is also very high which is more than 90 percent. The no of recruiters visited in more than 300 and offers made are more than 1000, which is a respectable number in my opinion. My plan after getting a degree is to be placed in a tech company
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite old, lecture gall and hostels lack ac and modern smart boards. Yet new hostels are being constructed for 3rd and 4rd yearites. 1st and 2nd year students has new hostels for them. The infrastructure is old though is good for aesthetic photos.
Faculty: In my experience the faculty is very nice and well qualified to be a teaching us. They are very smart and intelligent and many of them are well focused on research and development in thier own subject. Though one may question the teaching style and method of certain professors as they need not necessarily be good at teaching but holds emmence knowledge of what they teach. Many of them are very compationate of thier subject and eager to teach and want you to understand what they know about thier subject.
Hostel: The hostels for freashes are freshly built with neat and clean rooms and bathrooms. There are common rooms with table tennis in them. There is a reading room in the hostel which is open till late at night. The hostel rent is also very affordable which is 50 thousand per year including mess fee also. The mess food is good as compared to many iits and there a facility of canteen in the hostel also which is also very affordable. Hostel also provide the facility of washing machines to wash our cloths with some nominal charges.
Overall: Good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good
Placement: Very good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good good

Hostel: Then we have a good good day for you to everyone else is a great day I will not let you too and subscribe to the world to get a chance to be a great day
Overall: Infrastructure of the college is good and attractive and also have good faculty members , they have good knowledge of their subjects. They support the students in extra activities also .
Overall: There are many departments in IIT BHU like Ceramic engineering Chemical engineering Civil engineering Computer science and engineering Electrical engineering Electronics engineering Mechanical engineering Mining engineering Pharmaceutical engineering
Placement: The highest offered package in 2024 is 1.68 crore on the first day.The top companies in IIT bhu are Google,Goldman sachs , Uber, Qualcomm.Further, 1044 offers were received during placements 2024.Apart from this, the participants recruiters presented 310 PPOs to the students of batch of 2024
Infrastructure: We have a campus of 1300 acres. Students can enjoy a comfortable environment thanks to the iit bhu infrastructure. Library, badminton court, volleyball court, Hostel, sports complex, gym, gardens etc are there.
Faculty: IIT bhu has more than 300 faculties. The faculty of college is very experienced and all the professors hold PHD degree, with extensive research experience from top colleges in India and abroad.
Hostel: There are 16 hostels in IIT bhu including girls hostels. There are dinning rooms with mess.In every hostel there is a lounge, reading room and indoor sports room. There are many gardens also.
Overall: IIT Bhu being a brand college of uttar Pradesh is fantastic the four year for me was heaven it is all 10/10 in all field either infrastructure academic placement
Placement: Placement are as good as it's hype good placement good average and students are helped by the proffesor to grab good places average of iit if we will take of each branch is about 15-16 lpa
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good and enough to enjoy your four year . Hostles are good cleaned and green environment at IIT suits is craze as ihe College is in Varanasi it's environment surrounding is so extraordinary
Hostel: Compare to other low college of many new iits the hostle of IIT bhu is defined satisfying and good I enjoy my 4 year at IIT bhu hostle the environment was so clean and green
Overall: Iit bhu the college when you take admission you feel the nature you feel the beauty the campus life is so so soothing.. talk about the package this year highest was 1.68 cr domestic so you dreams will surely convert into reality.
Placement: Avg placement of my college is approx 21 lakh with median 20 lakh and this year the highest was 1.68 cr domestic and international 77lac ,330 ppos so if you work hard if you have minimum skiils that are required to get placed then i will surely say you will easily placed in best possible companies as this year meta, google ,d shaw all visited.
Infrastructure: Infra is bit a concern but it is due to because it is a 1300 acre so it is very tough to maintain but right. But all efforts are made to make it beautiful. So infra is good but dont expect so much it is like heritage. New sac building, new gym better sports equip ,football grounds so all the stuffs are available with proper management.
Faculty: All the proffs including Tas are we’ll educated and all the proffs are from higher institute as right now our physics head passed from iit delhi done msc in israel university so all the faculty’s are well trained and you the careing nature and friendly nature of dept head will help you a lot in your4 or 5 year journey .
Hostel: Iit bhu is all about heritage and beautines so we have lots of hostel and all named on big scientist and achievers.aryabhatta ,cv raman this type . All hostel are well maintained as many of are new hostels so in 1st year you will feel the hostel life and after 2nd year hostel is like hotel room with lifts and all other stuffs all the hostels are 2 occupany with all other amenities .
Overall: The Indian institute of Technology ( Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi commonly known as IITBHU is one of the prestigious institutions in India. .
Placement: Strong placement record. The highest package was 1.68 crore per annum. Top companies like google microsoft sprinklr hilab thoughtspot etc came to hire. But because of recession although the number of offers and the number of companies visiting our college drastically fell this year the institute still set its benchmark .
Infrastructure: IIT BHU is located inside the BHU campus. The buildings are magnificent and beautiful. The campus is very huge and green. Every department has a building of its own and all these buildings are distributed throughout the campus. Since the campus and the buildings are a little old the lecture halls, labs and hostels have fewer amenities. But the campus itself has a rich cultural heritage hence it has its own uniqueness and vibe to it. Many might not like it at first but eventually everybody falls in love with the campus and they find it so hard to leave it when they graduate.
Faculty: The academic curriculum is stress free. Getting good grades is easy. The course structure is also good. We get to spend most of our time on other things that we are passionate about. The faculty is patient and cooperative. All professors are highly educated and have done immense research in their field.
Hostel: Many boy’s hostels are old and girl’s hostels are relatively better. Very little maintenance of the hostel. At first it feels uncomfortable but eventually we will all get used to it. The mess food is good. The social life here is vibrant with many events and clubs. Many inter hostel sports competitions are also conducted. Overall the hostel life is good
Overall: In spite of being an IIT, it is different from other IITs as campus of this IIT is situated not on outskirts but in the middle of the city.Going out of campus is much easier as main gate is only 3km away and you can easily explore the Ghats and temples of great Varanasi(the city of lord Shiva). Not only that you can buy what you want from the main market which may not be possible in the other IITs due to being situated in outskirts. But there is one problem due to being situated in middle part of city which is pollution(dust particles here and there)in campus(but you will not feel upset because there are much greenery in the campus. Our college life is full of extracurricular activities (you can explore different fields like dancing, singing, story writing etc) and you will never forget these four years.Seniors will guide you at all the stages , campus is completely ragging free and seniors are very friendly.
Placement: Being in IIT BHU ,you are assured that you will end with a good job and package. Our placement is in comparison with top 7 IITs. There are lots of internships and job offers in core field of branch also (number of offers are more im core field sometime)
Infrastructure: There is lack of new infrastructure and all buildings are very old, perhaps you may miss the beatiful campus of other IITs.But some of the department buildings which were built very long ago are very good and designed much scientifically for feeling comfortable in different seasons. At the end our placement is much better than new IITs and even is in level of top 7 IITs.
Faculty: Professors are very nice , most of them teaches very nice and they clear all your doubts by giving sufficient time they never get angry or irritated when you ask doubts. But some of them do not teach well and you have to read from you tube or from classnotes of other profs. But you will feel ease if you attend all classes and prepare class notes(You do not cover all topics).
Hostel: Hostels are very old here and the Aryabhatta which is given to first year students is designed in such a way that you can enjoy your first year to the fullest and it helps in increasing unity among students. Rajputana hostel which is given to 4th year students is very old and looks very grand and living there will leave a long lasting influence on yourself
Overall: Its is very good college with great infrastructure, academic record and great placement record. I think IIT BHU have best campus which feels like heaven.
Placement: I think IIT BHU have over 100% of placement but in this current situation few of students are left because of the recession and i think this problem is facing very colleges.
Infrastructure: Here, earlier not a good infrastructure but now there are many hostels are in the phase of construction and I think from next batch those hostels will also be in working condition.
Faculty: This institute have very talented mind faculty and they have done lot of research to reach at this point so there is no issue of faculties. All are best.
Hostel: Here a good number of hostels and they are in better condition some are not so for that new hostels are under the construction when it will complete then there will not be any problem because of hostel.
Overall: When I crack jee mani and advanced I have choose between IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati after some discussion I choose IIT BHU and I choose civil engineering This is one of the best experience ever in IIT I give my tow years of preparation for this and this is worth it In this college I have lots of events Meet lots of best person best guidance and best sports facilities everything is magic I have lots best memory of my friends, teachers, just amazing experience ever
Placement: In first placement I have very good experience I was preparing two for the placement and my hardwork give me very good results I am placement in first attempt and I got 52 lakhs per annum
Infrastructure: My College have good infrastructure as you know because of this IIT it has best fund's for that's reasons It has very good campus and area, for me it's like a five star hotel
Faculty: You know IIT is famous for facilities IIT BHU has best sports facilities as well as in all branches has best facilities my personal favourite math facilities is very good
Hostel: My hostel room, for is like my home room I have full freedom in my room to do everything as you do in home I disine my room like haven I have everything in my hostel room, like fan,in summer I have cooler, best tools and Cher
IIT BHU BTech students live inside the 1300-acre BHU campus with separate hostels (Dhanrajgiri, Vishwanath, etc.) offering single/double rooms from second year. Facilities include 24×7 library, Olympic-size swimming pool, Ramanujan computing centre with GPU clusters, 400+ acre sports ground, super-speciality hospital, and night canteens. Wi-Fi covers entire campus, and technical fests like Technex attract 15,000+ participants annually, creating a vibrant ecosystem rare among technical institutes.
For General category above Rs 5 lakh income, total first-year expense is approximately Rs 2.38 lakh (Rs 1.21 lakh institute fee + Rs 1.17 lakh hostel/mess for two semesters). For income below Rs 1 lakh or SC/ST/PwD, it drops to Rs 62,000–65,000 including everything. Mess advance is Rs 16,500 per semester (veg/non-veg options), and hostel fee is fixed at Rs 300 seat rent + electricity charges, making it one of the most affordable among all IITs.
Yes, IIT BHU allows branch change after first year based on CPI (minimum 8.0 required, higher for popular branches). Top performers can switch to CSE, Electronics, or Electrical if seats are available (usually 5-10 per branch). In 2025, around 40-50 students successfully changed branches, mostly to CSE and Mathematics & Computing. The policy is strictly merit-based and announced after second semester results.
No, IIT BHU follows All India Quota only — there is no Uttar Pradesh state reservation. Seats are distributed purely on All India Rank through JoSAA, identical to other IITs. This applies to all categories: General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and female supernumerary (20%). Even local BHU students from ISC board must compete nationally via JEE Advanced, making admission equally challenging for UP domiciles as for students from any other state.
Securing CSE at IIT BHU is highly competitive — 2025 General closing rank was 1489 in Round 6, tighter than many older IITs except Bombay and Delhi. With only 155 seats (plus female supernumerary), candidates typically need under 1000 rank for safe admission and under 1500 for realistic chances. OBC closes around 600, SC around 350, and female pool adds ~300 extra seats. Preparation should target 280+ marks in JEE Advanced, with strong performance in Mathematics and Physics sections.
IIT BHU BTech stands out with its first-year common foundation across all branches, followed by deep specialization in niche areas like Ceramic, Mining, and Pharmaceutical Engineering — fields rarely offered elsewhere. The 160-170 credit structure mandates industry internships after third year, offers open electives from humanities and management, and integrates minor degrees in AI, Data Science, or Entrepreneurship. Students get access to BHU’s central facilities including a 1200-bed hospital for biomedical projects and advanced material characterization labs, creating unique interdisciplinary exposure not commonly available in newer IITs.
