NIT Trichy M.Tech : Fees, Courses, Eligibility & Admission 2026

National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) is a top government engineering institute in India, known for its strong academics, research quality, and experienced faculty. In the NIRF Engineering Ranking 2025, NIT Trichy secured the 9th position with NIRF score of 68.14, which reflects its national reputation and academic excellence. The institute offers M.Tech programmes in regular mode with a duration of two years across several engineering disciplines such as Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Data Analytics.

NIT Trichy M.Tech programme admission is based on a valid GATE score. Eligible candidates must register and participate in CCMT counselling, where seats are allotted based on GATE score, category, and choices filled. GATE 2026 is expected to be conducted in February, and the results are likely to be announced in March, after which the counselling process will begin.

NIT Trichy offers several M.Tech programmes in different engineering fields for the 2026 academic year. All M.Tech courses have a duration of four semesters. The total fee for each M.Tech programme is ₹2,34,800. This fee is the same for all specialisations, including Computer Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and other related disciplines:

NIT Trichy admission process for M.Tech in 2026 begins with appearing for the GATE examination. Eligible candidates must register on the CCMT portal and complete the application form with personal, academic, and GATE details, including the preferred specialization. Seats are allotted based on GATE scores, category, and choices filled. Selected candidates are required to accept the seat, complete document verification, and report to NIT Trichy to finalize the admission:

Step 1: Appear for GATE

• Candidates must take the GATE examination and obtain a valid score.
• Admission to the M.Tech programme is based on the GATE score.

Step 2: Check Eligibility

• Applicants should have a relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology with the required marks for the chosen M.Tech specialization.

Step 3: Register on CCMT Website

• Eligible candidates must register on the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech) portal.
• This portal is used for M.Tech admissions to NIT Trichy and other NITs.

Step 4: Fill the Application Form

• After registration, candidates must fill in personal, academic, and GATE details.
• NIT Trichy and preferred specialization should be selected.

Step 5: Lock Choices

• Candidates must lock their choices before the deadline.
• Only locked choices are considered for seat allotment.

Step 6: Seat Allotment

• Seats are allotted through CCMT rounds based on GATE score, category, choices filled, and seat availability.

Step 7: Accept Seat and Pay Fee

• Candidates who receive a seat must accept it online and pay the seat acceptance fee within the given time.

Step 8: Document Verification

• Required documents such as degree certificates, GATE scorecard, and category certificates must be uploaded and verified online.

Step 9: Report to NIT Trichy

• After final allotment, candidates must report to NIT Trichy, complete admission formalities, and pay the remaining fees to confirm the admission.

NIT Trichy GATE 2026 admit card will be released on 2nd January 2026. The examination will be conducted on 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th February 2026.
