NIT Meghalaya Scholarships 2026 - Details, Eligibility, Amount

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya (NITM) provides various scholarships to help undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students. • Eligibility: Top 5% of B.Tech students in each batch based on CGPA.
• Award: 40% tuition fee waiver from 2nd semester to 8th semester.
• Criteria: Must maintain high academic performance (CGPA ≥8.5).
• Rewardees also receive a Certificate of Merit upon completion.
• Awarded annually based on performance in the previous semester.
• Continuation: Performance tracking each semester is required.

This scholarship supports B.Tech students who demonstrate both good academic records and financial need:

• Eligibility: Up to 5% of a batch with CGPA ≥7.0 and parental annual income ≤ ₹4.5 lakh.
• Benefit: 40% tuition fee waiver from 2nd to 8th semester.
• Selection: Based on academic performance and economic criteria via a selection committee.
• Students are invited to apply after each end-term exam.

For full-time postgraduate students:

• MHRD/Institute Scholarship: Monthly stipend and contingency support as per MHRD (Ministry of Education) norms.
• Additional Scholarships: Students may be eligible for external scholarships such as Narotam Sekhsaria Scholarships, depending on availability and eligibility.
• Students can also apply for state and central government scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

NIT Meghalaya provides support for research scholars:

• MHRD PhD Scholarship: As per government norms for full-time PhD students.

Chinese Government Scholarship: 

Eligibility: 

• For a scholarship to undergraduate programmes, candidates must be high school graduates under the age of 25.
• For masters degree, applicants must be bachelor’s degree-holders under the age of 35.
• For Doctoral programmes, applicants must be master’s degree-holders under the age of 40.
• Candidates must be having 60% mark in the required qualification. 
• Applications of candidates who are abroad will not be considered.

How to Apply:

• Applicants have to apply online through the official portal of the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
• Applicants are also required to apply online simultaneously through the official website of the China Scholarship Council.

Rajarshi Shaju Maharaj Merit Scholarship:

Eligibility: 

• Students should belong to the scheduled caste.
• She/he should be a resident of Maharashtra.
• Annual family income of the family of the applicant should be less than 4.50 lakhs.
• Applicants must be studying in reputed institutions scheduled by the state. 

Value:

• The awardee students are given full tuition fee including hostel and mess charges prescribed by the institution.
• Selected candidates are also awarded Rs. 10,000 per annum for notebooks, books and other educational requirements.
