Orenburg State Medical University was established in the year 1944 by the decision of the State Committee of Russia. OrgMU is a small, non-profit, co-educational institution for higher education with an enrolment range of up to 4,000 students. The university released its first batch of MBBS graduates in May 1946. The official founders of OrgMU were Olifson L E, Chemist, Associate Professor; Lazarenko F M, Histologist, Professor and Silantyev A K, Associate Professor, Surgeon. Ranked amongst the top Medical Universities of Russia for MBBS admissions, OrgMU has gained high popularity amongst international students. Orenburg State Medical University is recognised by major organisations like NMC (National Medical Commission), Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, Ministry of Health of Russian Federation and WHO (World Health Organisation).
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
OrgMU is located in Orenburg which is about 1,478 kilometres southeast of Moscow, Russia. With the Republic of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, the city of Orenburg became a centre for Russian trade. The city has extremely fluctuating weather with temperature ranging between 6 degree Celsiusto 40 degree Celsiusin summers. In winters, it dips to below zero degrees. But, thanks to the modern infrastructure and comfortable accommodation facilities offered at the University, the extreme temperature of the city can be dealt with easily. The university offers high-quality medical education with modern equipment and updated infrastructure. The learning at OrgMU is not limited to classrooms, rather its students are provided with ample opportunities to learn through experiments and practicals. The curriculum for MBBS at Orenburg State Medical University is designed in accordance with international standards. It comprises a total of 54 subjects through which students gain theoretical, as well as practical training. The medical courses at OrgMU are taught by 300 highly experienced professors, doctors and associate professors. The university has eight departments including Pediatrics, General Medicine, Clinical Psychology, Preventive Care, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing Care, etc.

OrgSMU has graduated over 3,100 foreign students with about 900 of them being Indians. Students at the university are trained at over 18 clinical bases ensuring enhancement in their professional skills.
