The Rockefeller University is a private graduate research-oriented university in New York. The institute was established after a personal tragedy when John D. Rockefeller Sr.’s grandson died from scarlet fever in 1901. Rockefeller University is accredited by the New York State Board of Regents, and the Commissioner of Education. Rockefeller has been given top scores in several categories related to scientific impact and knowledge transfer by U-Multirank, a leading ranking firm funded by the European Commission, for the fifth year in a row. According to the QS WUR 2020 by Subject Ranking, it is ranked 47 in Biological Sciences, 101-150 in Medicine and 140 in Life Sciences and Medicine. 
 
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
 

The campus consists of nine research buildings containing over 481,000 square feet of lab space, alongside administrative and residential buildings. The most sought after courses at the university are Biology and Biochemistry, Immunology, Clinical Medicine, Microbiology, Neuroscience and Behaviour and many more.
 
Accomplishments & Alumni
 
The Sloan-Kettering Institute is a partner with Rockefeller in what is now known as the Tri-Institutional Program. Other Rockefeller researchers modernized the science of cell biology in the 1940s and 50s. Rockefeller scientists were the first to study cells. Together, these scientists paved the science of cell biology into the modern era. As of now, Rockefeller is conducting research on the CoronaVirus, a pandemic that has brought the world to a halt. 
 
Rockefeller has also produced world-renowned scientists with proven success rate to name a few 25 Oscar award winners, 23 Lasker award winners, 38 National academy of Sciences. Notable alumni include Gerald Edelman (American Biologist), David Baltimore (Biologist), Barbara Ehrenreich (Author), David Albert (Professor of Philosophy) and many more.
