BITS Pilani Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria 2019

The candidates must have acquired a minimum of 60% percentile or CGPA 6 in masters level in India. Students who have completed any of M.Pharm, MBA, M.Phil or M.E. from BITS Pilani will be considered equivalent as having 60% percentile or CGPA 6 in masters level. Candidates with a Masters of Arts (MA) degree having 55% percentile can apply for Ph.D. in Humanities and Social Sciences. Part-Time PhD Eligibility Criteria at BITS Pilani

Aspirants Scheme PhD Course Eligibility Criteria at BITS Pilani

Industries and Reseach and Development Farms (R&Ds) can sponsor a candidate for PhD who is their employee. Aspirants having a lot of experience in research projects in industries and R&Ds will be allotted their streams as per the industry's agreeability to sponsor him. The research facilities for such aspirants will be off-campus. Although, he/she must choose a faculty for guidance, required help and affiliation for his/her research project.

BITS Pilani PhD Selection Process 2019

BITS Pilani PhD selection process will initially be in the hands of the authorities. Shortlisted applicants will have to sit for a 1-hour pen-paper based written test and personal interview. After that, the list of the selected candidates for PhD admission in BITS Pilani will be displayed and further administrative formalities will be undertaken.

There will be two papers in written format for admissions in PhD course at BITS Pilani. Among the two papers, course 1 will be general and common for all the streams and the second paper will be specialisation specific. The details of the papers are as follows:

1. For admissions in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani PhD Admission Paper I

The first paper for PhD admissions in BITS Pilani will be carrying 60 marks in total that comprises of 30 MCQ type answers on General Science, Research Aptitude and Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis. Each question carries 2 marks and negative marking will be 0.5 for every wrong answer. The total given time of the paper will be 1 hour.

BITS Pilani PhD Admission Paper II

The second paper of PhD admissions in BITS Pilani will be carrying 140 marks and 70 MCQs. Each question will carry 2 marks and for each wrong answer, 0.5 marks will be deducted. Candidates who have M.Phil, M.E, and M.Tech and national level fellowships like NET-JRF, DBT-JRF, UGC-NET-JRF, CSIR etc are not required to take this examination. This portion will follow a given syllabus of PhD entrance exam of BITS Pilani.

2. For Admissions in Economics and Humanities & Social Sciences in BITS Pilani

The first test of Economics and Humanities & Social Science will be common for both the courses. This will be taken in the following components

The second test in PhD Admissions in BITS Pilani will be subject specific. Candidates with M.Phil or fellowships of NET-JRF, DBT-JRF, UGC-NET-JRF, CSIR are not required to take the second test.
