BITS Pilani Admission 2024 - Dates, Criteria, Application Form Process

BITS Pilani admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the entrance examinations. The university conducts Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) which is a computer based online test for admission in BE, BPharm and MSc courses. Furthermore, for BITS Pilani admission to PG courses like M.E and M.Pharm, candidates must have a valid score in BITS HD/ GPAT/ GATE. MBA at BITS Pilani requires candidates to have passed the BAAT entrance test in addition to the other eligibility requirements for admission.

For admission to UG and PG courses at BITS Pilani, candidates can apply via online and offline modes. The college offers admission in a number of UG and PG courses such as the B.E., B. Pharm., M. Pharm., M.Sc, M.E, and MBA. BITS Pilani provides different types of scholarships and financial assistance to students based on merit. These include BITS Scholarship, Board topper scheme and other need based scholarships.

BITS Pilani Selection Criteria for UG Courses

• BITS Pilani gives admission to its Integrated First Degree programmes (BE, B.Pharm, M.Sc) by BITSAT exam, Board Topper's scheme and International Students' admission scheme.
• Those who want to participate in BITSAT are required to have completed 12th with PCM/ PCB and attained a minimum of 75% total marks with at least 60% in every subject. BITS Pilani creates its own merit list based solely on BITSAT scores. If there's a tie between students' results, then the individual scores from subjects such as Mathematics/ Biology - Physics - Chemistry and finally PCM total of class 12th would be considered to break this tie.
• Class 12 board toppers means those who have obtained 1st rank at either state or national level get direct admission to their chosen UG course irrespective of their BITSAT scores. Only PCB toppers can get B.Pharm course, whereas PCM toppers can select any UG course to study.

BITS Pilani Selection Criteria for PG Courses

• BITS Pilani provides various postgraduate courses such as M.E and M.Pharm. Application for these programs is decided by GATE/ GPAT scores or performance in BITS Higher Degree (HD) entrance test. For every course, half of the seats are filled via GATE/ GPAT scores and the other 50% through BITS HD test scores. For M.E in Software Systems, a bachelor's degree in the relevant field is required with at least 60% aggregate marks. For this course, admission depends only on the BITS HD test score.
• For MBA (Business Analytics) admission, candidates who possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline or its equivalent with an aggregate score of at least 60%, and have studied at least one subject in mathematics or statistics either at high school (10+2) level or higher are eligible. 
• Candidates will be required to appear for the Business Analytics Aptitude Test conducted by BITS Pilani. They will be shortlisted for a Personal Interview based on their exam performance. Final selection will be judged on overall merits of i) Business Analytics Aptitude Test, ii) Personal Interview & iii) CAT (2023) / XAT(2024)/ GMAT (2023) (if available), along with previous work experience (if any), and prior academic history. It is preferable to have some familiarity with a programming language.

BITS Pilani admission to PhD is offered to students who have achieved a minimum of 60% marks in PG examination. Candidates must have an MPhil degree or fellowships like CSIR NET-JRF/DBT-JRF/UGC NET-JRF to get selected. Students who do not have these can attend the BITS PhD Entrance Test conducted by BITS Pilani. 

BITS Pilani Selection Criteria for PhD Courses

1. Students need to apply for admission on the BITS Pilani website.
2. To get selected for PhD at BITS Pilani students need to qualify for the BITS PhD Entrance Test and the interview round.
3. Students who have completed MPhil or have fellowships like CSIR NET-JRF/DBT-JRF/UGC NET-JRF are exempted from taking the entrance test.
4. The university will release the list of selected candidates on the website.

• Candidates will have to register themselves by visiting the official website at bitsadmission.com
• After successful registration on the official website, they can access the online application form which must be duly filled out with all the required information along with preference filling for courses and centres which cannot be changed post deadline. 
• Candidates should crosscheck all the filled out information and finally submit the online application form by paying a fee of Rs 3400 (for males) and Rs 2900 (for females). The aforementioned fee is prescribed if a candidate is appearing for just one session of the BITSAT exam. 
• Any candidate who wants to sit for the BITS HD Test is to indicate their three Test centres of choice.
• An application fee for the candidates who want admissions based on GPAT/GATE scores is Rs 1000 and for the other candidates through BITS HD online test the fee is Rs 3400.
• Application fee can be paid online via debit card/ credit card or net banking. 
• Take a printout of the filled out application form and keep it for future reference.
