About Nalanda University

Nalanda Open University is a public university in Patna, Bihar. It was founded in 1987 and is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Nalanda Open University provides a wide range of UG, PG, PG Diploma, and Research level courses in Computer Application, Commerce, Arts, Management, Sciences, Journalism & Mass Communication, Education, and Library & Information Science. Whereas, Nalanda University has five schools of education that offer three postgraduate programmes and a doctoral programme in the arts, sciences, and management. UG Courses Offered at Nalanda Open University

At the undergraduate level, NOU offers B Ed, BLIS, BA, BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), BCom, BBA, and BCA programmes. The minimum qualification is 10+2 in the relevant stream. Candidates for B Ed must have a Bachelor's degree with 45% marks and two years of work experience. In contrast, a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university is required for admission to the BLiB & I Sc programme. The qualifying examination is used to determine admission to all courses. Candidates must take the B Ed - CET to be admitted to the programme.

Nalanda Open University UG Application Process 2024

Candidates can apply to Nalanda Open University UG programs through online as well as offline application form. However, it should also be noted that exceptions would exist for candidates wanting admission in PhD courses, as they would have to go through the entrance exams. For submitting the application form through the offline mode:

• Candidates who wish to apply for UG admission in an offline mode would need to visit the official website of the university, download as well as fill the application form.
• After carefully filling the application form the candidate would need to submit the completely filled application form and submit the form in person to the relevant address along with the Demand Draft of Rs. 350 drawn in name of “Nalanda Open University, Payable at Patna”
• Candidates should also note that they would need to mention their name, mobile number, number mentioned on the admission form and the name of the program for which they have applied.
• After the application is successfully submitted all the details mentioned are processed within a given time frame and the candidates would be intimated about the same to visit the college campus for the entrance exam in case of PhD or for completing other final admission formalities along with the relevant original documents and specified admission fee.
• Candidates would also be able to get the NOU Admission 2024 form from the university by making a payment of Rs 450/- through demand draft. 
• Relevant application fee for successful submission of application form could be done by sending the application fee of Rs 400/- by a registered post.

For candidates who would need to submit the application form through the offline mode they would:

• Need to visit the official website and click on the admission link provided.
• If the candidate is new then they would need to create a new login account.
• After reading the relevant instructions the candidate would need to register for the same.
• After successfully registering for the same the candidates would get a username, password and OTP through the email and mobile number provided by them while registering.
• Using the username the candidates would then need to fill the required details in the application form and upload the mentioned documents.

Nalanda Open University UG Admission 2024

The institution offers UG degree programmes in the forms of BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, and BEd. One needs to have a 10+2 passing certificate in order to enrol in these programmes.

BA: More than 15 specialisations, including Economics, Education, Geography, Hindi, History, Yoga, Urdu, and more, are offered by NOU as part of its Bachelor of Arts programme. For students who complete their 10+2 with a 45 percent grade, the term is still three years. 

BSc:  NOU offers a variety of Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree specialisations. The PCM/B subjects in 10+2 must be studied for and passed by the students. 

BCom: The Nalanda Open University provides BCom courses in ODL mode for students in the commerce stream. There is no entrance exam; admittance is determined by passing the certificate with a 10+2 score.

BCA: Students who have taken mathematics in their 10+2 or have completed IA with CIC at NOU may pursue a bachelor's degree in computer application (Certificate in Computing). 

BBA: A Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is available from NOU to students who received a 45 percent on their intermediate exam. 

BEd: The two-year Bachelor of Education programme at NOU is solely open to in-service teachers. Only students with a 50 percent or higher in their undergraduate degree are eligible, and previous teaching experience is also required. For a BEd course, Nalanda Open University charges INR 25,000.
