JMC Campus

Jesus and Mary College is located in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. JMC college is well equipped with excellent infrastructure and facilities. Among the facilities, the institute offers the students with the library, canteen, Gymnasium, Medical room, Multi-purpose hall, and other basic facilities and infrastructure. The library of Jesus and Mary College is fully air-conditioned and is a quiet place for serious studies. The college also has a large Multi-purpose hall which is used is used for various cultural activities and indoor games. 

The JMC library provides access to students to a wide range of scholarly journals and books, growing digital media collections and other printed materials to support research and learning. The library at the campus is a three-story building with more than 50,000 books and journals.

The college also has an air-conditioned computer lab which has sixty computers, connected through LAN and Internet. The computer lab is also equipped with audio and visual teaching aids which also includes an LCD projector in it. The Jesus and Mary College also provides well-equipped laboratories such as Psychology which is equipped with various apparatus and test machines. Aside from this, the laboratories are also equipped with the OHPs, Laptop with LCD projection for better understanding. The institute also offers numerous other conveniences for better living of its students such as auditoriums, laboratories, gymnasiums, ATMs, medical services, etc.

The college also offers many sports facilities for around ten sports and games. JMC Students have also participated in both national and international sporting activities and won numerous prizes. The institute also encourages its students to participate in various games such as Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton, Football, Cricket and so on. Apart from this, Jesus and Mary College also has a well-furnished Gymnasium with all the modern equipment. Trainers are also available for guidance and training.

Dance Club -

About the Society

What the Society does

  • Mudra performs at freshers, PTSA, Montage and farewell. Two events are organized at Montage-Chimera: western dance and choreography. Members of Mudra  compete in many colleges in and outside Delhi University
  • Mudra won Channel V Nokia Indiafest in 2012 and has stood first in many events in Delhi University colleges like DCAC, LSR, St. Stephens, Dyal Singh, Daulat Ram; and also in Amity, IIT Delhi and Kanpur. The Society has also secured positions at SRCC, SSCBS, Miranda House, GGS, Deshbandu etc. Mudra was declared the best performing team in Delhi Dance Fever 2011-2012

Fine Arts Club -

About the Society

  • The society was established in early 1970s and was  known as the 'Paint and Brush Society'. In early 1980s, the society's name was changed to 'Fine Arts Society'. The Society presently has more than 100 members.

What the Society does

  • The society organises a number of events throughout the year. A 'Talent Hunt' is held at the commencement of the academic session to explore the budding artists. The event is open for participation to the first year students of the college. This is followed by a number of Fine Arts Competitions - Sketching, Poster-making, Card-making, Folder-making, Calligraphy, Cartooning, etc- in which all students participate in large numbers.
  • The society also holds “demonstrations” on not only different forms of art but also handicrafts- fabric painting, flower-making, pottery-designing, thread work, etc. 
  • As a part of Montage, the Annual Cultural Festival of JMC, Fine Arts Society under the nomenclature BEAUX ARTS, conducts various art-related competitions, like Sketching, Painting, Grafiti, Collage-Making, Wealth out of Waste, Rangoli-making, Face Painting, Puppet-making, Poster-making, Calligraphy, Mannequin-dressing, and other art & craft related competitions.
  • Furthermore the Society participates in each and every event organised by the college and contributes in the form of decoration of the venue- Multi-Purpose Hall or any other venue. This includes setting up the venue with rangoli-making and stage decoration.

Joining the Society

  • To become members of the Society students have to register with the society on the day of the Society Fair. All students with artistic skills and/or desirous of developing their talent are eligible to become a member of the society.

  • The Society organizes talks on appreciation of the Arts and also conducts heritage walks. The Society conducted Dastangoi  in collaboration with the History Department for Chronicle’13 and a Poetry Declamation competition during Montage ’13.

  • An acapella group, Echo has creatively covered a variety of genres from gospel and pop to jazz and alternative rock. Be it Solo, Duet, Trio or Group, Echo has lived up to it's potential and secured positions in almost all of the Western Music Competitions, ranging from IIT Delhi, St.Stephens, LSR and many more to our very own competition, Madrigal.
  • Apart from annual college festivals, Echo has performed at a variety of venues, including the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Church of Redemption and the Commonwealth Games Youth Festival.

Quiz Club -

  • Hindi Quiz Society organizes quizzes which are conducted in Hindi. Participants are quizzed on varied topics ranging from Hindi/English literature to current affairs, science, history, politics, fine arts, movies etc.

  • Besides participating in intercollege, interdepartmental quizes, we encourage students to actively particiate in organising events.

NCC Club -

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Jesus and Mary College (JMC) was incorporated in 1974 and has been operational since then. The NCC JMCaims to groom JMC girls into disciplined, patriotic and confident women. It conducts weekly training sessions for drill practice and march past practice. It organizes guest lectures on contemporarily important topics such as self-defense and role of women in civil defense. These lectures are delivered by eminent speakers from respected government institutions such as Army, Military etc. Importantly, it organizes numerous educational and recreational camps such as for weapons training, rock climbing, republic day march past etc. In its three decades of existence, the NCC JMC has trained more than 3000 female cadets and is going stronger than ever. 


NSS Club -

About the Society

  • National Service Scheme popularly known as NSS was launched on Gandhi Ji’s birth centenary year 1969 in 37 Universities involving students with primary aim to develop the personality of student volunteers through community services.

  • The scheme now extends to all the States and Universities in the country and covers +2 levels also in many states.

  • NSS in curriculum – Integration of NSS as a co-curricular activity is an initiative facilitating students to come face to face with realities of social fabric and to become a sensitive and responsible human being.

  • The Entrepreneurship Cell is the most nascent society of the college which started its operations from January,2015. The main objective of the Cell is to manifest the latent entrepreneurial spirit of students and help them attain independence and self-sufficiency. The Cell provides a platform to budding entrepreneurs to connect with like-minded people, faculty and the alumni.

Each year, Recruitment Drive is conducted inviting applications from students of all courses who are creative, energetic, passionate and are committed to work hard. Dance Club -

About the Society

  • Nrityanjali, the Indian Dance Society, rooted in Indian ethos, was established years back by students of JMC. These students exhibited a passion for our dance forms and our culture, and aimed to highlight the beauty associated with it. Each member is a performing artist and a fine example of dexterity in perfecting the dance forms. We present an array of dance forms, throughout the year- ranging from pure classical, to semi- classical, folk and Bollywood. 

What the Society does

  • Our relentless effort, at Nrityanjali, throughout the year, enables us to put forth bewitching performances for the audience. The in-house events for which Nrityanjali has performed include- the Independence Day Celebration, Teachers Day celebration, Parent Teacher Student Association meet, Freshers Welcome, Senior Farewell and the Convocation of the JMC alumni. Our individual members have been presented with coveted awards from the government for showcasing their talent in Indian dance across different stages in the country. Competing and winning has been a tradition for Nrityanjali thus far in the Delhi University fests. Our Gujarati Folk Dandiya composition for the year 2015 has won us many laurels! Adaa, our annual Indian Dance Event, is one of the most highly anticipated competitive events held during Montage. Preparations begin months in advance; hard work and passion on part of all members makes this a grand event hosted by Nrityanjali. Adjudged by renowned Indian dance maestros, the highly enthusiastic and talented participants compete to win exciting cash prizes!

  • The Film Appreciation Society of Jesus and Mary College is a microcosm of the real world, a space where people of different beliefs and ideologies, likes and dislikes come together to share a cinematographic experience. The language of cinema is universal which crosses all boundaries. The society makes an attempt to make one aware of the potential of cinema and empower the audience aiming towards a more enriching experience. It has been formed to encourage the appreciation of film from the point of view of art and education, as well as entertainment. The main aim is for faculty and students to watch and share their favorite films and documentaries and be introduced to some new ones followed by a reflection and discussions by invitees and students. Such discussions enhance the scope for perspective building.

What the Society does

  • The society holds regular movie and documentary screenings belonging to different genres, notices of which are put up on the society board and on the board outside the principal’s office. All members are informed about the screenings via sms. Anyone is welcome to come to the screenings and is encouraged to get involved in the society. The society, at present, has 24 members drawn from various disciplines.
