What is CUET PG exam?

CUET PG 2026 stands as a key entrance exam for postgraduate admissions across India's central, state, private, and deemed universities. It opens doors to master's programs in diverse fields like science, humanities, engineering, management, and law. Recent projections indicate over 4.5 lakh candidates will register, building on the 4.1 lakh who appeared in 2025, according to NTA's latest updates.

Introduced in 2022 by the National Testing Agency (NTA), this exam has quickly become a preferred choice for PG aspirants. Scores from CUET PG 2026 will be valid for top institutions such as Delhi University, JNU, BHU, TISS, and over 190 others, including new participants like Amity University and Christ University, for the 2026 cycle.

The exam covers programs including MSc, MA, MCom, MBA, MTech, and LLM. Papers are grouped into categories: Science, Humanities, MTech, Languages, Acharya, and a broad Common section that encompasses MBA, MCom, and Law.

Key Reasons to Choose CUET PG 2026

Consider these advantages when planning your preparation.

Streamlined Admission with One Exam

Previously, candidates faced separate entrance tests for each university, each with unique syllabi, patterns, and fees. CUET PG changes that. You take a single test to apply to multiple universities and courses. This approach cuts preparation time, costs, and effort by nearly 90%, as per student feedback from 2025 cycles.

Fair and Standardised Assessment

NTA ensures equity through:

  • Uniform evaluation criteria.
  • Normalisation across multi-day, multi-slot sessions to account for variations.
  • Minimal emphasis on Class 12 board marks, focusing instead on subject expertise and aptitude. This levels the playing field for students from CBSE, ICSE, or state boards.

Transparent Process Led by NTA

As an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, NTA delivers glitch-free, internationally benchmarked testing. The 2025 exam saw improved digital infrastructure, with results declared within weeks, and 2026 promises further enhancements like AI-proctored centres.
