Mission and vision
The college owes its origin to the extreme generosity and foresight of SardarDyal Singh Majithia, who willed his vast wealth in 1895 for setting up an education trust for a truly secular college.
The college got established at this place in 1959 and currently it is imparting education to over 4600 students including foreign students through faculities of Arts, Commerce, Mathematical Sciences, Science and Social Sciences.
We strive to create conducive environment for students to gain insight into their academic pursuits so that the students are more employable and to equip students with necessary knowledge to contribute not only to their own story of growth but also of this college, University of Delhi and our great nation.
With a view to develop a wholesome personality, we strive to further equip sports and extra curricular facilities.
The college is providing the infrastructure and assistive technology to differently abled students. We strive to do more for such students.
We also strive to have strong placement linkages so that students graduating from college and wishing to be economically independent are able to get a job matching their abilities and skill.
Realizing that research and innovation are an important contributor to the growth of an institution , students and teachers are a motivated lot engaged in various research and innovation programmes involving funding to the tune of Rs. 1,86,09,842/-. These projects are funded by UGC, CSIR, DST, ICSSR, ICMR and DU.
Realizing the need for overallimprovement in the education status of youth and to maximize the usage of college infrastructure, the college is contributing through personalcontactprogramme for students of School of Open Learning of University of Delhi and through IGNOU study center. We will like to take this endeavor further in years to come.
The college community need to be concerned about its responsibility towards the less privileged in the society and towards planet Earth. We are doing a bit through NCC, NSS and environment club at the college. We strive to take further steps to adopt a village/Jhugi-jhopdi cluster, and impart health/ hygiene education and to make people literate. We strive to use more of organic manure and plant more and more trees.
Equally important is to safeguard youth from the ills of tobacco smoke and substance abuse. Our endeavor is to make college students aware through various programmes so that they remain healthy and notaddicted to bad habits. The Psychological health of the students is of paramount importance. To take care of that the students are provided platform for one to one interaction for their problems with trained counsellors.
Last, but not the least, we aim to live to the vision of the founder SardarDyal Singh Majithia to be a truly secular college and nurture students to be responsible citizens of the country.
