Gargi college was established in the year 1967 and is one of the most prominent all women college as a constituent member of the University of Delhi. It is located in one of the prime locations of South Delhi and is in close proximity to the metro station. Gargi College provides the students with the opportunity to choose between four of the most prominent courses in courses in India, viz., commerce, science, humanities and education.
Gargi college is one of the top ranking colleges under DU with a grade ‘A’ given by NAAC and being ranked 16th in an All-India colleges’ category by the NIRF( National Institution Ranking Framework). The college is also equipped with a variety of facilities like a WI-Fi enabled campus, computerised library, auditorium, state of the art laboratories, bioinformatics facility, etc.
The college offers more than 20 courses in undergraduate category and 3 postgraduate degrees. Along with academics the college also promotes the students in participating in extracurricular activities. It has around 20 Cultural and Non-cultural Societies that the students can choose from. From photography to fine arts to western music, to dance clubs to debating societies, etc.
The college takes pride in promoting social outreach and social awareness and has allowed the students to create groups and clubs dedicated to the different causes that need attention in society. These outreach programmes are aimed at helping the students in growing mentally, physically and emotionally. There are various groups like the Eco club, equal opportunity cell, Gandhian Study Cell, Marketing cell, NCC, NSS, etc.
Gargi College also has a placement cell that helps the students get internships and secure jobs with some of the well-known companies such as EY GDS, KPMG India, ITC group, etc. The placement cell aims at grooming the students and giving guidance and support to the students in deciding the career that they will like to choose for their future. They hold seminar and workshops to help the student understand their qualities and how to handle themselves in various situations that include their jobs, higher education, life skills, etc.
