Dissertation Work Opportunities for External Students (January 2026 to June 2026) - IIT Indore is pleased to announce dissertation work opportunities available for external students from January to June 2026.
IIT Indore cutoff in 2026 is likely to be quite tougher than 2025. For BTech, JEE Advanced ranks may rise by about 5–10% because more students are competing. For MTech, GATE cutoffs for general-category seats may go up by around 20–50 marks. However, the rules regarding IIT Indore admission will be the same. BTech applicants need a good JEE Advanced rank and at least 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST/PwD). For MTech and MSc, admission continues through valid GATE or JAM scores followed by COAP or JAM counselling. The IIT Indore fee structure ranges from INR 20,000 to INR 800,000, depending on the courses. However, this fee structure only includes tuition fees, not other components like hostel or admission fees.
IIT Indore JEE Advanced cutoff in 2026 is likely to rise slightly because the number of expected qualifiers may reach about 2.1 lakh. In 2025, closing ranks for the general category increased by nearly 28%, with CSE shifting from 1389 in 2024 to 1775 in 2025. Similar movement may continue in 2026. All BTech admissions use JEE Advanced ranks through JoSAA counselling. The institute offers around 500 seats in BTech, with CSE offering 84 seats.

IIT Indore UCEED cutoff in 2026 for B.Des will likely rise by about 5–8%, with the General category expected to close around 125–130 instead of 119 in 2025. More than 16,000 applicants competing for only 40 seats will push the cutoff higher. The four-year B.Des programme trains students in user-centric design and innovation, and IIT Indore admits candidates through UCEED Part A and Part B scores across three counselling rounds. Students must score at least 75% in Class 12, or 65% if they belong to SC, ST, or PwD categories.
Category | 2025 Closing Rank (Round 3) | 2026 Expected Closing Rank |
| General | 119 | 125-130 |
| EWS | 23 | 24-26 |

IIT Indore IIT JAM cutoff in 2026 is likely to rise slightly across MSc programmes because of growing applicant competition and stable seat numbers. Based on 2025 closing ranks shown in the image, most subjects may see a mild tightening of 3–6% for the General category and 2–5% for OBC-NCL/EWS. SC/ST cutoffs may change less because of wider rank bands. Courses like MSc Biotechnology are expected to remain the most competitive, while Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy may see moderate shifts.
Programme | General (Closing Rank) | OBC-NCL/EWS | SC/ST |
| MSc Chemistry | 390-410 | 650-700 | 2000-2200 |
| MSc Physics | 440-460 | 750-800 | 2500-2700 |

| MSc Astronomy | 450-470 | 780-850 | 2600-2800 |
IIT Indore GATE cutoff in 2026 is likely to increase slightly across most MTech branches because the applicant pool remains steady while top scores are rising each year. Based on the 2025 ranges shown in the image, most programmes may see a rise of 4–7% for General, while OBC-NCL and SC/ST categories may show a moderate increase of 3–5% due to stable seat availability. Highly technical branches like structural engineering and VLSI may experience the sharpest rise.
Programme | General (Min Score) | OBC-NCL | SC/ST |
| MTech VLSI Systems | 470-490 | 430-450 | 300-320 |
| MTech Structural Engineering | 590-610 | 540-560 | 380-400 |
| MTech Mechanical | 420-440 | 380-400 | 270-290 |

| MTech Applied Optics & Laser Tech | 380-400 | 340-360 | 240-260 |
IIT Indore GATE cutoff in 2025 shows a noticeable rise across most MTech branches compared to 2024, mainly because of higher competition and an increase in top-scoring candidates. Core programmes such as VLSI, Structural Engineering, Computer Science, and Signal Processing showed tougher competition, while branches like Thermal Energy and applied optics had relaxed cutoffs. Overall, most specialisations recorded a 4–10% increase in their minimum qualifying scores.
Programme | General |
| MTech VLSI Design and Nanoelectronics | 604 |
| MTech Structural Engineering | 464 |
| MTech Mechanical Systems Design | 539 |

| MTech Space Engineering | 495 |
| MTech Thermal Energy Systems | 279 |
| MTech Applied Optics and Laser Technology | 330 |
| MS Research Computer Science and Engineering | 622 |
IIT Indore cutoff trends show that BTech admissions are becoming easier each year, as closing ranks have increased by about 20–30% for the general category because more students qualify for JEE Advanced. For MTech, GATE cutoffs change by around 5–10% depending on COAP rounds and the demand for each branch. BDes cutoffs through UCEED have remained steady since the programme started in 2023. For MSc courses, Biotechnology stays the toughest, with ranks under 100, while Astronomy allows broader entry with cutoffs above 400.
