IIT Madras BTech+MTech Cutoff 2026 (Expected)

The IIT Madras BTech+MTech cutoff for 2026 will likely rise across both specialisations as competition increases and placements remain strong. Trends from 2025 suggest that Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Design will show tighter opening and closing ranks, especially in the general and EWS categories.

The recent trends in the educational sector show a rising demand for aerospace engineering. So, the aspirants must keep in mind that 2026 may see more applicants than 2025, and that will make the competition quite tougher, even though the cutoffs may be way lower than the top BTech programmes. With only two dual-degree options available through JoSAA, the 2026 cutoff range will likely shift upward by 50–150 ranks depending on the category and branch.

  • Aerospace Engineering (General) may open around 2200–2300 and close near 2650–2750.
  • Engineering Design may close around 3200–3300, with EWS and OBC categories seeing an 80–120 rank rise.
  • SC and ST cutoffs may also move up slightly, following the upward shift observed from 2024 to 2025.

Aerospace Engineering opened at 2304 and closed at 2808, while Engineering Design closed at 3380 for the general category.

  • The EWS cutoff for Aerospace Engineering was a bit easier than in 2024, closing at 929. The 2024 cutoff for the same course was 804.
  • With the OBC Aerospace cutoff closing at 1472, there was not much difference from 2024. The 2024 cutoff for OBC was 1455.
  • The EWS cutoff for Engineering Design in 2025 went up 200 ranks from 2024, closing at 838.
  • The 2025 cutoffs for SC and ST in Engineering Design were 1513 and 705, respectively.
