National Institute of Technology Puducherry, also known as NITPY, is a government college established in the year 2009. Located in Karaikal, Puducherry, the college is an Institute of National Importance. The institute is approved by AICTE.

NIT Puducherry offers a total of 4 courses at the UG level. The institute offers B.Tech courses at the undergraduate level. The college provides admission on the basis of JEE Main score. NIT Puducherry was ranked 97th in the NIRF ranking 2024. NIRF ranking 2025 is yet to be released

As per previous years NIT Puducherry placement statistics, the highest package offered was Rs 24 LPA and the average package offered was Rs 7.5 LPA. National Institute of Technology, Puducherry (NITPY) provides scholarships under various categories for the students. The scholarship provided by the National Institute of Technology, Puducherry (NITPY) is as follows:

• Sh. Doral Agarwal Meritorious Scholarship -2021 for the physically challenged students.
• Scholarship for backward class students from TN students studying at NIT.
• First-year students for National Scholarship Program
• Directorate of Higher & Technical Education [DHTE] Puducherry Scholarship scheme
• Scholarship scheme from Swami Dayananda Charitable Education Foundation 
• Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship for SC students from Maharashtra 

The stepwise workflow to register and apply for National Scholarship Program is as follows: 

• New users should click on "New Registration" in National Scholarship Portal, and existing users must click on the "Login" option.
• The new registration form will open up on clicking the new registration option. 
• In the registration form, students need to furnish their details like name, date of birth, mobile number, gender, email id, identification details, state of domicile, scholarship category, banking details, and attach a copy of a bank passbook with having a photograph of the student in pdf format. 
• At the end of the form, a captcha is to be entered before submission of the form for registration. 
• On submitting the form by clicking on "Register," a unique application number will be sent to the student's registered mobile number and a password through SMS. 
• Upon receipt of the Application id and password, students can go to the home page and click "Login to Apply" to access the detailed application form. After successful login, the password can be changed with the help of the One Time Password (OTP) and forwarded to the registered mobile number. The OTP is used for getting over to the Password Reset page. 
• On successful login, students can access the detailed application form wherein he has to cater all the requisite details provided earlier for registration along with a few additional information. The new required information includes religion, the student's community, whether the student is a single girl child of the parents, whether the student is a day scholar or hosteller, etc. 
• After the personal details are furnished, the student needs to provide academic details in the portal, which includes the details of 10th standard, 12th standard, and competitive exams or courses appeared by the students. 
• The last portion of the form covers the student's basic details, including the guardian's name and profession, type of disability, student contact details, etc.
• Once the form is filled, the student must click on the Save & Continue option followed by the scheme selection to apply for a scholarship and attach relevant documents. 
• Once all the requisite details are filled in and relevant documents attached, students can opt for the final submission of the form. 
• There are provisions in the portal for changing bank account details and passwords as and when required.
