Loughborough University is a public research university, in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, in the East Midlands of England. The institute dates back to 1909 as Loughborough Technical Institute and it has been recognized as a university since 1966. Currently, Loughborough University has affiliations from Universities UK, Wallace Group, AMBA, EUA, ACU, EMUA, EQUIS, ESRC, SEFI, M5 UNIVERSITIES, UNITECH. In 2019 Guardian University League ranked the university 4th. In the 2018 QS Higher Education league table it ranked 1 for sports-related subjects.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The campus has an area of 438 acres and it has Administrative blocks, and Academic Blocks, Library, Garden, Gymnasium, and Playing Fields. The library has over 4 floors and 1375 study spaces and also open access area. The university is organized into ten schools. These are School of Aeronautical, Automotive, Chemical and Materials Engineering (comprising the departments of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Materials), School of Business and Economics, School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, Loughborough Design School, Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering, School of Science (comprising the departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and the Mathematical Sciences), School of Social Sciences (comprising the departments of Communication and Media, Geography, PHIR and Social and Policy Studies), School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, School of the Arts, English and Drama (comprising the School of the Arts and the Department of English & Drama) and Loughborough University London. The university offers courses in Engineering, Science, Accounts, and Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, Criminology, Design, Sports Science, Arts, Mathematics, Management, Marketing, Media, Pharmacy, Social Science, Psychology, Robotics, Urban Planning.
Accomplishments & Alumni
University was awarded 7 Queen’s Anniversary Price, its second only to Oxford. It is also among the top 10 research universities in England. It was also awarded GOLD for Teaching Excellence. Also, according to Times Higher Education, it ranked 1st for Student Experience Survey in 2018. In 2019 it was named the University of the Year.
