Overall: My time at Chandigarh University has been quite positive. Pursuing B.Tech in CSE, I entered through CUCET Phase I and earned full scholarships with a score of 97.5. The bracket for a 100% scholarship is 91 to 100 marks. I have no regrets about choosing this university. The exposure, exciting events, and excellent sports facilities have been some of the key reasons.

Placement: The placement opportunities at Chandigarh University justify the investment in education. In 2023, 3750 engineering students secured positions in top-tier companies. For instance, a senior of mine holds an executive role in a renowned company with a CTC of 32.4 LPA. The highest international package offered was Rs 1.7 Cr, while the highest national package reached Rs 54.75 LPA.

Infrastructure: I'm an avid reader and particularly enjoy spending time in the library. Our campus has a central library along with 14 others distributed across different academic blocks. We have access to 11 electronic databases and have a DELNET & British Council Library membership. Additionally, through the National Digital Library of India (NDL), we can explore over 7 lakh books, 3 lakh research papers, and 95,000+ theses.

Hostel: We have access to amenities like the internet, a common room with a TV, a music room, a salon, a reading room stocked with national and international newspapers/magazines, a gym, and indoor sports facilities. As someone who lives in the hostel, the facilities are okay but needed maintenance given the fees we are paying. I chose a 4-seater non-AC room which costs about Rs 1,20,000 per year.

By Dheeraj

Overall: A review of a college management system's student care or student issue: 1. **Lack of Support Services:** The system does not adequately provide resources or support for students facing academic, personal, or mental health challenges. This includes limited access to counseling services, tutoring, or academic advising. 2. **Ineffective Communication:** Students struggle to communicate their concerns or seek assistance due to poor communication channels within the system. This might include difficulties reaching faculty or administrators, lack of response to inquiries, or unclear processes for reporting issues. 3. **Bureaucratic Hurdles:** The system imposes unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles for students seeking help or accommodation, leading to frustration and discouragement in accessing necessary support. 4. **Inflexible Policies:** The system enforces rigid policies without considering individual student circumstances, making it difficult for students to navigate unique challenges such as medical emergencies, financial difficulties, or scheduling conflicts. 5. **Limited Accessibility:** The system lacks accessibility features for students with disabilities, hindering their ability to fully participate in academic and extracurricular activities. 6. **Ignored Feedback:** Feedback from students about the system's shortcomings or suggestions for improvement is often ignored or dismissed, perpetuating a cycle of dissatisfaction and disengagement. In summary, a college management system with poor student care fails to prioritize the well-being and support of its students, leading to difficulties in accessing assistance, navigating challenges, and ultimately hindering academic and personal success.

Placement: A review of a college with bad placement services might include the following points: 1. **Lack of Career Guidance:** The college provides minimal or ineffective career counseling and guidance to students, leaving them unprepared for the job market and unsure of their career paths. 2. **Limited Networking Opportunities:** The college fails to facilitate meaningful networking opportunities with industry professionals, alumni, or potential employers, hindering students' ability to build connections and secure job opportunities. 3. **Inadequate Job Placement Support:** The college's job placement services are ineffective in helping students find employment after graduation, with limited job listings, poorly organized recruitment events, and little assistance in resume writing or interview preparation. 4. **Mismatched Job Opportunities:** The job opportunities presented by the college do not align with students' skills, interests, or career goals, leading to dissatisfaction and underemployment among graduates. 5. **Poor Reputation among Employers:** Employers view graduates from the college unfavorably due to perceived deficiencies in their education, skills, or professionalism, making it difficult for students to secure desirable job offers. 6. **Lack of Alumni Support:** The college lacks a strong alumni network or support system to help recent graduates navigate the job market, seek mentorship, or access job referrals and recommendations. Overall, a college with bad placement services fails to adequately prepare students for the workforce, resulting in high levels of unemployment, underemployment, and dissatisfaction among graduates.

Faculty: A review of an unsupportive faculty might include the following points: 1. **Lack of Engagement:** Faculty members show little interest or engagement in their students' learning experiences, often appearing disinterested or detached during lectures, discussions, or office hours. 2. **Limited Accessibility:** Faculty are difficult to reach outside of scheduled class times, office hours are infrequent or poorly attended, and communication channels such as email or messaging platforms go unanswered or receive delayed responses. 3. **Unwillingness to Provide Assistance:** Faculty members are unwilling to provide additional help or clarification to students struggling with course material, assignments, or projects, leaving students feeling unsupported and unsure of how to succeed. 4. **Negative Attitudes:** Some faculty members exhibit negative attitudes or behaviors towards students, such as dismissiveness, condescension, or hostility, which create a hostile learning environment and deter students from seeking help or engaging in class. 5. **Inflexible Policies:** Faculty enforce rigid policies regarding attendance, deadlines, grading, and accommodations without considering students' individual circumstances or needs, leading to unfair treatment and increased stress among students. 6. **Limited Academic Resources:** Faculty do not provide adequate resources or support for students' academic and professional development, such as research opportunities, internships, or networking connections, hindering students' ability to succeed beyond the classroom. Overall, an unsupportive faculty undermines the educational experience by failing to engage, assist, or advocate for students' success, resulting in frustration, disengagement, and decreased academic performance.

Hostel: A review of a good hostel would highlight the following positive aspects: 1. **Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities:** The hostel maintains high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, with regular cleaning schedules for common areas, bathrooms, and dormitories. 2. **Comfortable Living Spaces:** Dormitory rooms are spacious, well-furnished, and equipped with amenities such as comfortable beds, study desks, storage lockers, and adequate lighting. 3. **Safety and Security:** The hostel prioritizes the safety and security of residents, with measures such as 24/7 security personnel, CCTV surveillance, secure entry points, and emergency response protocols in place. 4. **Social and Recreational Spaces:** The hostel provides common areas and recreational facilities where residents can socialize, relax, and engage in leisure activities, fostering a sense of community and belonging. 5. **Convenient Amenities:** Residents have access to convenient amenities such as laundry facilities, vending machines, kitchenettes or dining areas, and on-site staff to address any maintenance or service requests promptly. 6. **Inclusive Environment:** The hostel promotes inclusivity and diversity, accommodating the needs of residents from various backgrounds and cultures and fostering a respectful and supportive living environment. Overall, a good hostel enhances the college experience by providing a safe, comfortable, and inclusive living environment that supports residents' well-being and contributes positively to their academic and personal growth.
