Overall: NIT Silchar, Campus is good , Infrastructure is okaish , not that great, Placements are not that great ( specially 2023-24 ) . Faculities are good, some are unbearable though

Placement: Placements used to be quite good until 2023 batch. The 2023 batch saw quite a decline in placements.Students are struggling with their placements apart from the CSE Students

Infrastructure: The new building are good but the old buildings are not that great. The classrooms are good but there are no ACs. There are watercoolers in the campus.

Faculty: Most of the professors are good. But some of them are just unbearable. Some are very strict with attendance and Labs. You need to maintain attendance or your stay will be pathetic

Hostel: Hostels are not that bed. I am someone who has been to hostels before but this was quite an upgrade. If you are new as a hosteller you will face many problems.Bathrooms are pathetic

Overall: National institute of technology Silchar is a place where you can make your dreams true ,it is a place that gives you many opportunities to discover your hidden talents or else to improve your skills. NIT silchar ranks as the top seventh NIT among all and the best among all the north eastern NITs .

Placement: The placements here is so well and this year the highest package is of 1.67CPA. The average packages is about 12LPA and the median is about 10LPA .The highest average package is always bagged by the computer science department at an average of 24LPA then my branch ECE is the second highest one .

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the newly built buildings is so good but when it comes to the old ones which were built nearly 40 years ago are not good at all .Disregarding the fact that they were built a long time ago they are still enough to live.

Faculty: As the students are from different parts of the nation the lecturers have to establish a method which can enable all the students understand the lectures perfectly . The professors are so helping in nature, they do not hesitate to our questions and takes extra classes when some cannot understand something properly.

Hostel: There are totally 9 hostels for the boys and 5 for the girls which consist students of the same year only the hostel 9 resembles that of a 5star hotel and it is filled only with the 3rd and 4th years also with the international students.

Overall: My overall experience in this college is very good and the college environment is pleasent. The campus size is vast and consists of 20 plus lakes and these are beautiful to view. Nit only studies there are many extracurricular activities like sports there are many clubs which are helpful for personal development.

Placement: The placements are decent. The highest package is 24 lpa which is secured by student studying in computer science and engineering. The average package is 24 lpa.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of NIT Silchar is not too good . The buildings are built in 1960's so,they are old. Recently we have celebrated 58th anniversary of our college. There is also a admin building at the start of the campus whose infrastructure is good.

Underrated NIT

Overall: Initially I wasn’t happy about not getting into a better NIT as I never heard the name NIT Silchar ,With doubts in my mind I joined this college but soon after joining I realised this isn’t a bad choice the scenery of the campus ,the faculty, the dean academic , the fests all are absolutely fantastic. It has the biggest digital library on the name of A.P.J Abdul Kalam transport facility to travel with in the campus ….etc ….But the worst part is the. Surroundings of NIT Silchar has nothing roam even the nearest city is behind a generation it’s like my village in 2015’s so pretty much campus is the only option .

Infrastructure: Well about infrastructure , my personal opinion about this is I like the infrastructure , newly built academic building, the linking of the buildings which makes it easier to travel between labs and classes .Though they are quite old buildings but still they are well maintained and there are many trees which makes it a almost pollution free campus, there are many dust bins through out the campus which helps to maintain the cleanliness overall the infrastructure isn’t that bad .

Faculty: Actually every semester faculty changes , so whoever it might be he’s not permanent . But every faculty member tries their level best to teach the students ,they are cheerful, experienced, skillful, talkative, even the faculty members compete with each other to score the highest marks which shows a faculties interest .But the number of classes aren’t sufficient to make students understand from scratch,so it ultimately depends on the student how well he can perform in exams.
