Established in 1967, the National Institute of Technology is located in Assam in Silchar city. The National Institute of Technology Silchar placement cell promotes institute-industry interaction through sponsored research to work in the industry for the short term. The placements in 2022 of the students of National Institute of Technology Silchar saw 3 students being offered a pay package of Rs 44 lakhs per annum by Amazon, 2 students getting offered a pay package of Rs 41.86 lakhs per annum by Microsoft, 1 student from NITS being offered a pay package of Rs 40.93 lakhs per annum by Adobe, Arcesium India offering Rs 36 LPA, Rs 35 LPA, and Rs 32.50 LPA respectively. Swiggy offered 9 National Institute of Technology Silchar students a pay package of INR 31.84 LPA. The training and placement cell of the National Institute of Technology Silchar works under the guidance of the training and placement officer in consultation with FIC. Working closely as a liaison between the industry and the institute, the training and placement cell of the National Institute of Technology is well-equipped with all the necessary technology and advanced infrastructure to carry each stage of the placement process smoothly. The training and placement cell staff believe that the technical class that is training today will be the problem-solvers and visionaries of tomorrow.

National Institute of Technology Placement Process

The placement process followed at the National Institute of Technology Silchar involves the interested companies contacting the training and placement cell through e-mail first. Then the training and placement cell staff return to the recruiters by sending them a Job Notification Form (JNF). This form is accompanied by a formal invitation to the recruiting companies for recruitment drives at NIT Silchar and all the necessary details related to the placement process. The placement office allots the slots for the placement drive based on the filled-out Job Notification Form. The allotment is subject to the availability of slots depending upon the slots offered to all the companies right from the beginning and other factors. 

The companies then visit the campus of the National Institute of Technology Silchar's campus on the schedule mentioned as per their allotted date in their communications sent via email. The companies conduct the various stages of recruitment as per their policies and need. It may be based on the interviews, tests, group discussions, and so on as required by the recruiting companies. On the same day, when all the selection processes are considered to be done, the companies are requested to present the final list of students from NITS. The students are notified and are expected to join the companies on their decided schedule with the decided pay package and job description. 

The National Institute of Technology Silchar students introduces various summer internship projects. These projects are designed to help the students bring out their best innovations to life. Internships are offered to the students of NIT Silchar during their summer vacation and are governed by a clear set of rules. Many companies offer internship opportunities to students for varying durations in months. 

The students of NIT have interned with esteemed companies like Samsung R&D Institute, Bangalore, Amazon Web Services, Cradlepoint, 314e Corporation, Optum, Inc, etc. Some companies offered longer summer internships as per their plan, and some offered more minor internships. Amazon Web Services offered internships and PPO, and thus many promising opportunities were created for the development of the students of NITS. At the same time, they work and research with the company.
