SVCE Alumnus to Become IIT Madras Director

Dr V Kamakoti, an alumnus of Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (1989 batch), will take over the mantle of Director of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras from Bhaskar Ramamurthi. Dr Kamakoti earned a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) in 1989, followed by an MS and PhD from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He subsequently completed two post-doctoral positions at the Indian Institute of Science's Supercomputer Education and Research Center in Bangalore and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Chennai.

Before this, Dr Kamakoti has had the fortune of serving various reputed organizations in various capacities. He was a professor at IIT Madras in 2009, following which, he served as the Associate Dean for Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (ICSR) and Head of the Departmartment of CSE at IIT Madras. He was also a member of the National Security Advisory Board where he proposed a viable solution for tracing the origins of Whatsapp messages. Dr Kamakoti was designated by the Union Commerce Ministry in 2017 as the Chairman of a Taskforce on Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Development in a Variety of Fields. He has been bestowed with many awards for his contribution like the Alumni Achiever Award by Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) in 2020, the Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship in 2020, and the DRDO Academy Excellence Award in 2013 .

KCET 2026 OMR Sheet: As KCET is an offline exam, the candidates will be required to mark answers on the OMR sheet provided at the examination hall. The exam is conducted across sessions, and there will be a separate OMR sheet for every session and subject. The KEA releases a sample OMR sheet (specimen copy) a week before the exam so that the candidates can download it and get habituated with the answering procedure.
