About UPES MET 2019

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) organises UPES MET (short for UPES Management Entrance Test) multiple times in a year for admission of eligible candidates in its MBA programmes. The UPES Management Entrance Test (UPES MET) 2019 will be conducted in online mode on 15th July 2019. The University also offers admission on the basis of NMAT/CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT, after which group discussion and personal interview rounds are conducted for qualified candidates.

UPES MET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the UPES MET 2019 must ensure that they meet the following eligibility criteria for admission to the management courses of the University.

  • The candidate should have secured a minimum of 50% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary level (Class 10th and 12th).
  • The candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with a minimum 50% marks from any recognised University/College.
  • The candidate who has MAT, CMAT, XAT, CAT, NMAT, and GMAT scores of the same or previous year are exempted from taking UPES MET 2019.
  • Candidates in their final year of qualifying exam will also become eligible for UPES MET 2019 provided they can present the passing certificate at the time of admissions.

MBA Oil & Gas Management
  • Candidate should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Higher & Senior Secondary level (Class 10th and 12th) and Bachelor's Degree.
  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from any recognised University
  • Engineering/B. Sc. (PCM) Graduates.
UPESMET/ National Level Test + Group Discussion & Interview

MBA Energy Trading

  • Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Higher & Senior Secondary level (Class 10th and 12th) and Bachelor's Degree.
  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from any recognised University
  • Graduation in Commerce/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ CA/ ICWA/ Engineering/ B.Sc. (PCM)
MBA Power Management
  • Candidate should have secured a minimum 50% marks in Higher & Senior Secondary level (Class 10th and 12th) and Bachelor's Degree.
  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from any recognised University
  • Engineering/B.Sc (PCM) Graduates.
MBA Business Analytics in academic collaboration with IBM
  • Candidate should have secured a minimum of 50% marks in Higher & Senior Secondary level (Class 10th and 12th) and Bachelor's Degree.
  • Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree from any recognised University
  • B.Tech/BE in any discipline, B.Sc. (PCM) or B.Sc. (Maths), BA (Economics/ Math/ Statistics), B.Com Pass or honours, BBA
MBA Human Resources  Management / Marketing Management / Financial & Accounting Management / Operations Management
  • Candidate should have secured minimum 50% marks in Higher & Senior Secondary level (Class 10th and 12th) and Bachelor's Degree.
  • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from any recognised University

UPES MET 2019 Exam Pattern

UPES MET 2019 Exam Pattern includes all the information that aspirants must know prior to appearing for the exam. It is an offline examination of 2 hours 30 mins duration. UPES MET comprises of multiple choice questions and is meant to evaluate candidates based on their ability in Quantitative Techniques, Data Interpretation, General Awareness, Analytical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, and Reading Comprehension.

  • UPES MET examination consists of 140 questions of one mark each from:
    1. English
    2. Quantitative Aptitude
    3. General Awareness
    4. Analytical Reasoning
  • Each question has four options to choose the correct answer from. 
  • Candidates have to choose only one option. 
  • Selecting more than one option is taken as an incorrect answer.
  • The total duration of the pen and paper mode test is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  • The candidates have to finish the test 10 minutes before the time so as to be able to revise the answers.
  • The question paper is divided into 4 sections. 
  • Each section has 35 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

UPES MET 2019 Result

The UPES MET 2019 result will be announced on the official website of UPES. UPES MET Result includes the marks and ranks obtained by the candidates.

Steps to Check UPES MET 2019 Results

  • Visit the official website of University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES).
  • Click on the link available to access the results of UPES MET.
  • A new page will open where you will have to provide your Application No. 
  • After providing the requisite details, click on the 'Submit' tab.
  • The UPES MET 2019 result will appear on your system's screen.
  • Then, click on 'Save' tab for downloading the result.
  • Take a printout and keep a copy of UPES MET result in your systems for admission purpose.

UPES MET 2019 Scorecard

UPES MET 2019 scorecard will comprise the following details:

  • Name of the candidate
  • Roll Number
  • Total Marks
  • Sectional scores
  • Rank obtained by the candidate

After the announcement of the results, the schedule for GD/PI will be announced. Candidates applying through MAT, CMAT, XAT, CAT, NMAT by GMAC and GMAT scores will also be called for GD/PI round to be organised at the institute’s Dehradun campus. The shortlisted candidates will have to be present in person during GD/PI. In case a candidate is absent, his/her seat will be allotted to the next best candidate.

UPES MET 2019 Selection Process

University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) organises UPES MET every year for admission to MBA courses. Here is the detailed information about the selection process:

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for allotting admission into UPES on the basis of their MAT, CMAT, XAT, CAT, NMAT by GMAC, GMAT scores of the prescribed year or UPES MET 2019 scores.
  • Thereafter, if candidates are shortlisted, they will have to participate in GD (group discussion) round and finally the personal interaction (PI) round with the UPES admission faculty.
  • The performance of candidates will be judged at every phase of the selection process, on the basis of which the candidate will be given admission.
  • The selection process for UPES MET will be held in three cities, which are Kolkata, New Delhi, and Mumbai. UPES will conduct the GD/PI via two pathways:
    • Non Examination pathway,
    • Examination pathway.

Non-Examination Pathway:

The candidates who have appeared for the following national level examinations – CAT/ XAT /MAT/CMAT/NMAT and have the required percentile can directly attend the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The required percentiles for CAT/XAT/MAT/CMAT/NMAT by GMAC are as follows:

For MBA Oil & Gas / Power Management / Energy Trading / Logistics & Supply Chain Management / International Business: Candidates having minimum MAT score of 80 percentile and minimum CAT/XAT score of 75 percentile will be exempted from UPES Management Entrance Test and will only be called for GD & PI if qualified. Valid CAT/ CMAT / GMAT/NMAT by GMAC/XAT scores will also be accepted.

For MBA Port & Shipping Management / Aviation Management / Urban Infrastructure & Smart Cities / Business Analytics/ MBA with Specialization in HR / Operations / Marketing / Finance): Candidates having minimum MAT/CMAT score of 75 percentile and minimum CAT/XAT score of 70 percentile will be exempted from UPES Management Entrance Test and will only be called for GD & PI if qualified.

Important Note: NMAT by GMAC Score - Minimum required score will be updated after the declaration of NMAT by GMAC result.

Examination Pathway:

  • The candidates who fail to fulfill the required percentile in CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT/ NMAT by GMAC can apply via this pathway. 
  • The candidates are required to have a minimum score of 50% in Class 10th, 12th and in Graduation.
  • If candidates are applying via Examination pathway, they will be required to take the management entrance test by UPES.
  • Up to 30% seats will be filled through National Level Tests category (CAT/MAT/XAT/NMAT by GMAC). In case, candidates for such seats are not available, UPES has the right to fill these seats through UPES MET.

  • Class 10th mark sheet and certificate in original and photocopy form
  • Class 12th mark sheet and certificate in original and photocopy form
  • Graduation mark sheet and Migration certificate 
  • Transfer Certificate 
  • Valid photo ID 
  • Resident proof 
  • Other relevant documents 

Scholarship for MBA Programmes:

  • Minimum 80 percentile score in CAT/XAT.
  • Minimum 90 percentile score in MAT, NMAT by GMAC, UPES MET & any other National Level Entrance Test.
  • 5% seats in each programme for 25% tuition fee waiver in 1st semester.

How to Apply for UPES MET 2019

The UPES MET 2019 application form is going to be available on the University's official website. The application form can be filled in online as well as offline mode.

UPES MET Online Application Process

Please follow the instructions given below to complete your Online Application Process:

  • Click on the link that indicates your status: Indian Resident or Foreign Resident
  • Then, click on the tab 'Sign up'. You will be directed to the new page, which is a Sign-Up Form.
  • Enter all the details requested in the Sign Up Form as well as the programme that you are interested in.
  • After that, Click on the 'Submit' button.
  • You will get an email from UPES on the email address that you have registered in the Sign Up Form.
  • To verify your email address and activate your account on the UPES website, click on the link provided in the email from UPES.
  • Please proceed to fill up the Application Form online and follow the instructions given in it.
  • After submitting the application form successfully, make an online payment by credit card/debit card/net banking.

Instructions to Fill Online Application Process

  • Online form submission facility is applicable only for those who want to apply online through Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking.
  • Please do not submit your applications unless you enter the necessary details in all information areas of the application form.
  • If you have a scanned passport size photograph/image, you can upload the photograph/image while applying online.
  • However, while applying online, do not use the 'back' tab on your browser's toolbar, use the links and tabs available on the page to move from one page to another page.
  • After successfully completing the submission process, you will have to print the entire application form for your reference.
  • On successful submission of your online application form, you will get an online application number/registration number. Please retain this form number carefully for future reference.

UPES MET Offline Application Process

  • Candidates can also buy application form by Demand Draft/Cash.
  • Candidates can collect UPES Prospectus & Application form by sending a DD in favour of 'UPES Fee Account', payable at New Delhi/Dehradun along with request letter or by Cash payment from admission counters at Chandigarh/Delhi/Dehradun/Kolkata/ Mumbai.
