Library
The library is a place for Individual Study. Readers are requested to cooperate and keep the LIBRARY a QUIET AND PEACEFUL place. SILENCE is essential.
While you will be expected to buy some of your own course materials, VJTI provides a range of specialist resources to support your studies and enhance your learning experience.
The VJTI Library is the key resource for the information that you will need during your studies. Library staff are ready to help and advise you from the day you arrive to the day you come to write your project and dissertation work and prepare for your future career.
Easy to find, in the centre of the campus, opposite the canteen, on the first floor, the Library is a quite and comfortable place to study. It is currently open into the early evening and at weekends during the term time.
Additional support can be arranged for students with disabilities and / or specific learning difficulties. If you have any individual requirements or suggestions, a member of the Library staff will be happy to discuss them with you.
Our aim is that you enjoy your subject, gain experience in different ways of thinking and working, and leave with the knowledge and skills to take control of your future.
The institutes' Hostels, which offer accommodation for a total of 554 students are located at the southern end of the campus. They comprise four blocks A, B, C, and D. Accommodation is given to 110 new students in all branches every year on the basis of merit-cum-need. Preference is given to students residing outside the city of Mumbai.
There are four messes run by students. Hostel fees are based on three seaters, two seaters or single seater including electricity charges. The hostel students' amenities fund and medical charges are payable at the begining of each term.
The hostels are provided with dining halls and the residents organize themselves into clubs and run the messes under the control of Joint Managing Committee of the students' Messes (JMC). There are four messes at present and each mess has an elected General Secretary, Joint Secretary and an Auditor.
Hostel accommodation is available for students enrolled for each full time course. All attempts are made to provide hostel accommodation to as many students as possible. However, it is not possible to provide hostel accommodations to all the applicants. The students waiting for hostel accommodations in the first semester will have to make their own arrangement to stay in the city up to the time they are finally admitted to the hostel. Applications for hostel accommodations should be made on the prescribed form available from the office of the hostel after admission to the institute is confirmed.
The Institute has five Maharashtra EME COY NCC units to provide NCC training to the students. The NCC cadets are sent for military training as well as to the various all India trekking and leadership camps.
With a view to encourage the overall development of the students, the institute has constituted Social Group with all the degree as well diploma students as it members. The social Group organizes extracurricular activities like dramatics, debates, exhibitions, lectures by well known personalities etc. At the end of the academic year, it organizes the Annual Social in which various entertainment programs are presented by the students. It also organizes intercollegiate competitions during the year.
The Institute has a counseling committee for the students. The members of the committee help the students to deal with difficult situations, academic or otherwise.
