IGNOU Admissions 2024

Indira Gandhi National Open University admissions to the Certificate, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses are done on the basis of merit from the most recent qualifying examination. However, for some courses such as B.Ed, B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil and PhD, an entrance examination is conducted, the scores of which along with the previous merit will determine admission to IGNOU. The registrations have to be done on the IGNOU admission portal. The portal can be accessed from the university’s official website, or directly at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The portal for IGNOU admissions is provided for Open and Distance Learning Programmes (ODL Programme). From the ‘Programme Information’ category, candidates can view the courses offered and for which ones the admissions are open. IGNOU Application Process

Candidates are admitted on the basis of the marks secured in their last qualifying examination, through the IGNOU direct admission process. To secure admission, meeting the basic eligibility criteria is mandatory. The university also conducts entrance exams for admission to programmes like B.Ed, B.Sc Nursing, M.Phil and PhD. Once the candidates successfully passes the entrance test, they will then be eligible to apply for admission to IGNOU.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University application process is held in online mode via the official website. The steps are as follows:

Step 1 - Visit the official website of IGNOU University (ignou.ac.in).

Step 2 - Pick the 'Register Online' link, and choose your preference from the drop down menu.

Step 3 - Click on 'Fresh Admission' for new registrations; you will then be sent to the IGNOU admissions portal (ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in).

The university offers distance education and works on the Online Distance Learning (ODL) model in a variety of streams like arts, commerce, education, computers, etc. The IGNOU admission process is based on merit for most of the courses.
