CSIR NET 2025 Online Test Instructions: The CSIR NET exam for December session 2025 is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the online mode on December 18, 2025. The CSIR NET exam is held nationally by NTA twice a year. Candidates' eligibility for Lectureships (LS), Junior Fellowships (JRF), and Assistant Professorships in Sciences at Indian universities are determined by the CSIR NET. CSIR NET exam will assess a candidate's eligibility for Science and Technology Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or Lectureship (LS) posts. At Indian universities and colleges, students who pass the CSIR NET 2025 exam will have the opportunity to seek JRF and lecturer posts in fields like Earth, Oceanic, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Mathematical Sciences. CSIR NET 2025 Online Test Instructions

The important steps for taking the Computer Based Test are outlined below. Each candidate gets a computer. And the students must sit just at the spot given to them. If they shift places, either purposefully or unintentionally, their candidacy will be terminated.

  • To log in, the candidate must enter both their login ID and password. The image provided here will be seen on the candidate's screen.

  • Following a successful login, the candidate sees a welcome window similar to this one.
  • A set of instructions will appear on the candidates' screen as follows when they select the "Proceed" option, as seen in the image.
  • These guidelines apply to the type of questions, marking scheme, and so on. The examination begins at the specified time, and applicants can answer questions on their screens.

  • The exam carries a total of 180 marks.

  • During the exam, the designated computer's keyboard will be disabled.

  • The candidate can respond to the examination using a device called a mouse.

  • Aspirants can change the answers that have already been marked.

  • In the event of a computer crash or a mouse malfunction, the candidate will be sent to another computer, and the lost time will be deducted from the server to ensure that the candidate completes the test within the time limit.

  • The computer clock will appear on each candidate's screen, indicating how much time is remaining to complete the exam. The time will be presented as minutes.

  • When the clock reaches zero, the exam will be immediately submitted. It is not necessary to submit or complete the exam.

The Question Palette shown on the screen will represent the state of each question

  • The questions will be assessed if the candidates respond to them and provide Marks for Review.
  • The applicant will not be examined if they fail to respond to the question or questions and receive marks for review.
  • When candidates mark questions for review, they can return to the same question at any moment during the test and simply click on the question number that appears on the Question Palette to answer it.
  • The candidate can click the ≥ symbol, which appears on the left side of the Question Palette, to enlarge the question. The candidate can click the ≤ symbol that shows on the right side of the question window to return to the question palette.
  • The applicant can use the mouse to scroll up and down if they wish to move the question paper up and down while writing the CSIR 2025 CBT.
  • To access the question paper, click the "Question Paper" button that shows up in the upper right corner of the computer screen window.
  • Blank sheets will be provided to the candidates for the purpose of rough work and calculations.
  • Candidates can write their name and roll number in the heading of the blank papers. The candidates must turn in the blank sheets they were given prior to the exam's start to the invigilator after it is over.

Steps to Navigate through Questions in CSIR NET 2025 CBT Exam

  • The following CSIR NET 2025 online test instructions must be followed by the applicant in order to navigate between questions within a paper:
  • The candidate must click on the question number in the Question Palette, located on the right side of the screen, in order to proceed to a specific question.
  • The candidates must select the "Save and Next" option after responding to the question in order to save their current response and move on to the next one.
  • Candidates can select the "Mark for Review& Next" option to proceed to the next question without responding to the questions and marking them for review.

Steps to Mark Answers in CSIR NET 2025 CBT Exam

The following important steps include marking responses in the CSIR NET CBT exam in accordance with the guidelines for the CSIR NET 2025 online test:

  • The steps involved in responding to an MCQ or objective type question
  • To indicate the right response, select that choice.
  • Candidates have two options if they wish to deselect the response: click the "Clear Response" button or pick the same choice again.
  • In order to go to the next question, candidates must select the "Save & Next" option.
  • Students can mark the question for review by clicking "Mark for Review & Next."

Navigating through sections

  • On the top of the computer screen, each section of the question paper is displayed. It will emphasise the current/viewing portion. Applicants must click on the section in question to view the questions that are located there.

  • After selecting Save &Next for the final question in that area, applicants will be automatically sent to the first question in the subsequent section.

  • Any component of the test may be viewed by students whenever it is convenient for them.

CSIR NET CBT 2025: Instructions for Numerical Questions

The following are important guidelines for the CSIR NET 2025 numerical questions, in accordance with the guidelines for the online test:

  • For numerical questions, candidates can use the virtual keyboard that appears beneath the question to mark their response. The answer must be marked by the student using a mouse and a virtual keyboard.

  • In order to go to the next question, candidates can click on "Save & Next" or "Mark for Review & Next." This will allow them to go back and evaluate their answers at a later time.

List of Documents Required at Exam Centre and CSIR NET 2025 Online Test Instructions

The following is a list of the documents that need to be brought to the testing location.

  • Applicants must bring their hall pass or admit card to the testing location.

  • When asked to prove their identity, candidates should have and present their personal identification cards.

  • No printed or written materials of any type should be brought into the exam room by candidates.

  • It is recommended that test takers arrive at the testing location at least one hour prior to the test starting time.

  • Candidates who do not arrive at the examination venue on time will be denied the opportunity to write the examination.

  • All applicants are expected to maintain discipline and decency both inside and outside the exam room.

  • Any form of misconduct with the invigilator or staff member of that organisation will not be tolerated and may result in the revocation of the candidature.

  • During the examination, candidates should remain silent.
