Tamil Nadu M.Pharm admissions offer postgraduate opportunities for pharmacy graduates aiming to specialise in various pharmaceutical fields. Admission is mostly determined by GPAT scores, and state-level merit is taken into account for applicants who did not take the GPAT. While private institutions may choose to use consortium guidelines or conduct their own selection, the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), located in Tamil Nadu, is in charge of the admissions process for government and government-aided colleges. Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Eligibility Criteria 2025

In order to be eligible for M.Pharm admission in Tamil Nadu, you must fulfil the following criteria mentioned below:-

  • Candidates seeking admission to the M.Pharmacy Course should be citizens of India and Natives of Tamil Nadu.

  • Candidates of Tamil Nadu Nativity who have completed B. Pharma in other States should submit a certificate of Nativity in Tamil Nadu.

Educational Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or relevant degree from any recognised university.

Percentage Required

  • Candidates belonging to the OC, BC, BCM, and MBC categories need to secure a minimum of 55% marks from any recognized university.
  • Candidates who belong to the SC, SCA, and ST categories need to at least 50% marks.

Note:- Before seeking admission to any one of the affiliated institutions, candidates shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate from the Dr MGR Medical University.

How to apply for Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Admission 2025

To apply, students must first visit the Health & Family Welfare Department, Tamil Nadu official website. The general steps to fill the application process involve the following steps.

  • Go to the official website and click the Apply option.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the registration procedure.

  • Login with the credentials created during registration and fill out the application form.

  • Any relevant documentation, including images and signatures, should be uploaded.

  • Submit the application form after paying the application cost.

Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Exam Pattern 2025

Candidates seeking admission should appear Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Entrance Exam conducted by the Selection Committee. The exam pattern followed for the Tamil Nadu M.Pharm entrance exam is mentioned below:-

Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Merit List 2025

After the successful completion of the exam and the announcement of the results and the Merit List will be released. The Merit List of candidates will be determined by adding the marks from the entrance examination and the marks from the experience. (90 marks for the entrance exam + 10 marks for work experience)

Inter-se merit determination:

If two or more candidates receive equal marks out of a total of 100 marks, the inter-se-merit of those candidates shall be determined using the recommended approach outlined below.

  • The results of the Entrance Examination.

  • The least number of times a student has appeared in a B.Pharm. examination in the final semester or year.

  • Total marks obtained in the B.Pharm final semesters/final year examinations.

  • Priority will be given to those who are older.

Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Result 2025

After the entrance exam, results will be published on the Health & Family Welfare Department, Tamil Nadu official website. The merit list will be published on the websites by the Selection Committee. Candidates will be contacted for counselling based on their merit, and they will be able to exercise their options by their eligibility criteria.

Note:- Answer papers will not be rechecked, revalued, or totaled again. And Answer keys will not be provided.

Check Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for M.Pharm admission, a candidate must:

  • Hold a B.Pharm degree from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).
  • Be a registered pharmacist under the Tamil Nadu State Pharmacy Council or any other recognised State Pharmacy Council.
  • Have completed compulsory internship/ practical training as per PCI norms.
  • Secure a valid score in the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) or GPAT.

Entrance Exam

Admission is primarily based on entrance scores:

  • TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test): Conducted by Anna University.
  • GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test): National-level entrance exam conducted by NTA.

Application Process

  • Apply online via the official Tamil Nadu Health Department / DME portal.
  • Fill out the M.Pharm application form carefully and upload all required documents.
  • Pay the application fee online (fee may vary by category).
  • Wait for the rank list or merit list to be released.

Preparation of Merit List

  • Separate merit lists are prepared for GPAT-qualified candidates and TANCET-qualified candidates
  • The merit list is prepared based on normalised scores and reservation policy.

Counselling Process and Seat Allotment Result

  • Online counselling is conducted by DME.
  • Candidates are called in order of rank.
  • During counselling, candidates can choose courses and colleges and also view real-time seat availability.
  • After allotment, candidates must download the Provisional Allotment Order, Report to the allotted college with original documents and pay the admission fee

Final Admission

  • Admission is confirmed after document verification and fee payment at the allotted college.
  • The college will then register the student with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University or respective affiliating university.

Tamil Nadu M.Pharm Counselling 2025

Seats for admission will be allocated through merit-based counselling, adhering to the reservation policy. Candidates will receive counselling invitations based on their ranking in the merit list. Eligible candidates can access their Call Letters by logging into the Health & Family Welfare Department's official websites using their Application Number and Password. They must attend the counselling sessions as per the specified dates and times mentioned in the Counseling Schedule, available on the official website.

Once a decision is made during counselling, it cannot be reversed. There is no provision for changing branch/college preferences after counselling. Re-allocation is only permitted during the second part of counselling. Individual requests for college transfers will not be entertained.
