Minimum Eligibility Criteria for M.Pharm Courses

In order to get admission to a Pharmacy college in India to pursue M.Pharm courses, candidates are required to meet the following minimum requirements. Appearing in the GPAT examination is one of the most important requirements at top colleges. But there are some other requirements that are indispensable to pursue M.Pharm. The requirements are mentioned below.

  • The minimum requirement to pursue an M.Pharm course is to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm).

  • The Bachelor's degree should be awarded by a PCI/UGC/AICTE recognised university or institute.

  • Although the minimum percentage requirement varies from institution to institution, you must have at least scored 50 per cent marks in the qualifying examination.

  • In some colleges, you might also be required to have work experience in the relevant industry for a minimum of 1-2 years.

  • Some Pharmacy institutions in India also conduct interviews for admission.

  • The merit is then prepared on the basis of your academic qualifications, entrance examination scores, and performance in the interview round.

  • There is no age requirement for M.Pharm as such. But you must at least be older than 17 years on 31st December of the present year.

How to Get Admission in M.Pharm With Low GPAT Scores?

Scored low in GPAT? Worry not! There are various other ways for you to make it to the postgraduate Pharmacy courses in India. How? Check out the different examples of M.Pharm applications below.

Example 1: For candidates who have scored less in GPAT can apply for Pharmacy colleges through state-level examinations. There are various states that conduct separate entrance exams for admission to the Pharmacy colleges in that state. You will have to fill an application form for that particular examination and then you can use the scorecard to get admission the participating colleges of the exam.

Example 2: Another way to get admission in M.Pharm is through direct admissions. A number of private universities in India offer postgraduate Pharmacy courses with a minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree in the relevant field. For this, you will have to apply separately for the university/ college directly through its official website.

Example 3: If you do not want to go for either of the two mentioned ways, you can also apply for the colleges/ universities that conduct their own pharmacy entrance exams. In such a case, you will have to apply for that institution and you will be allocated a seat in the intended course on the basis of your scores.
