What's new about Cochin University of Science and Technology admissions 2023?

For CUSAT admissions 2023 for LLB courses, the CLAT 2022 results has been released. The CLAT 2022 results were made public by the Consortium of NLUs on December 23, 2022. Candidates can log into the registration page and access their CLAT 2022 score card online.

CUSAT Admission 2023 Important dates

Cochin Institute of Science and Technology was established with a motto of developing higher quality post-graduation education in the field of Applied Science, Technology, Industry and Commerce. The college is providing admission in various undergraduate and post-graduation degree programmes in the field of Law, Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Marine Science, Medical Science and Technology from the year 1971.  All the Academic programmes of CUSAT kochi are approved by UGC/ AICTE. A long list of programmes is available in the course bucket of CUSAT which offers choices to the students while selecting their desired course. Admission notifications will be released on the official website of CUSAT. Once the notifications are released, all the candidates are invited to fill the registration and apply for the programmes for which they are looking for admissions. Candidates may download the brochure from the website or they may collect it from the college admission window in order to get relevant information about admission to CUSAT. Besides this, the eligibility criteria and application process along with the selection process for each of the programmes are mentioned below, candidates may take a look at that. Applicants must note that the university will also conduct an admission test for admission. The examination schedule will also be updated here once it is officially released by the conducting body. 

Pass in the Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.

Pass in plus two examinations of the state of Kerala with mathematics, physics, and chemistry as optional subjects or any other examination accepted as equivalent there to securing a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics and 50% marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry put together.

(i) Pass in Plus 2 examination with 60% marks in Science group or 55% marks in commerce /arts /humanities. 
(ii) Should not have completed 20 years of age in July 1st of the year of admission. 22 years in the case of SC / ST and OBC candidates.

Bachelor’s degree of any University recognised by CUSAT and diploma level knowledge in the language concerned.

Bachelor's Degree with 40% aggregate marks in any discipline of a University recognised by CUSAT. 35% for SC/ST. Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination may also apply in anticipation of results. However, the mark lists obtained in the qualifying examination shall be produced at the time of admission. Those who fail to produce marklist shall not be considered for admission.

Bachelor's degree in law with 45% marks eligibility.

Any graduate with mathematics as one of the main or subsidiary subjects or graduate in electronics/ computer science/computer applications/engineering/technology with an aggregate of 55% marks in all subjects other than languages and humanities.

•  Should have passed B.Tech/B.Sc Engg. degree examination in the respective branch with a minimum of 50% marks. 
• Candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations in respective/allied branches conducted by Institution of Engineer’s (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, and Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers are also eligible for admission if they have an engineering diploma or a basic degree in science.
•  Should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the concerned field after acquiring a qualifying degree. This may be relaxed if a sufficient number of candidates with the minimum prescribed experience is not available.
• Open seats will be allotted on the basis of the score in the Departmental Admission Test, marks obtained in the qualifying examination, and experience.

Pass in Pre-degree/Plus Two  or equivalent thereto of any University recognized by CUSAT. Previous knowledge of the language is not essential.

Candidates who are applying for admission need to fill the application form. They may check out the steps mentioned below.

• Visit the official website of CUSAT University, www.cusat.nic.in.
• Create a login ID, by login into the website.
• Click on the “New Candidate Registration” tab. Enter all the required details including Name, Date of Birth and
• Age. Also, provide a valid mobile number and email address. The email address provided by you will be used for further verifications.
• Once done, you will see two options. One is the “Online Registration Indian Citizens /NRI / Children of Indian Gulf Workers (CGW)” for all Indian Citizens applying for Non-NRI / NRI / CGW Seats. The Second Option “International Candidates / PIO” is for those who are applying for seats reserved for Foreign Citizens or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO). A candidate applying for the Second Option “International Candidates / PIO” cannot apply for the First Option.
• An OTP will be sent to the mobile number provided by you. You should log in with the OTP received on your phone and then change your password immediately. You should remember your username and password as it will be required to log in all the time.
• After that, you will be redirected to pay the application fee. Click on the “Online Payment” option. The application fee can be submitted through any of the online payment options including Netbanking, Debit Card or Credit Card.
• If you are applying for more than programs then you may submit applications for all the courses one by one however the application fee will be the same irrespective of the number of programs you are applying for admissions.
• Once done, a confirmation will be sent to the email provided by you. You must send a mail to the examination authority at cusathelpdesk@gmail.com.
• No modifications are allowed once the application is submitted online. 
• It must be noted that if you are applying for seat reservations/ seat quota/ fee concession etc., on the basis of being in the Non-Creamy Layer category, Reserved Community, Lower Income Category etc., you need to provide proof of your belonging category.
• At last, all the candidates are advised to keep visiting the official website of Cochin University of Science and Technology at regular intervals in order to get timely updates.

Note: Applicants applying for B Tech and/or MSc (5 years Integrated) Photonics and/or B Tech Lateral Entry may not select their Branch, Seat Category, etc. during the time of online submission of applications. Such candidates will be granted the "Option Registration" facility (with the exception of applicants for the M. Sc. (5 Year Integrated) Photonics Program) after the Common Admission Test (CAT) for a specified period, according to their eligibility, to choose either the Branch or the Seat Category (SM / AIM / NRI) etc., in the order of the Candidates ' preference. Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) Kochi B.Tech/BBA-LLB/B.Com-LLB/LLB and Integrated M.Sc Admission 2020

Admission to all undergraduate courses is done on the basis of the CUSAT CAT score, while of Lateral Entry scheme for B.Tech. requires a candidate to clear CUSAT Exam. The dual degree or Integrated M.Sc. The program offered by CUSAT is a five-year course which includes B.Sc for the first 3 years and M.Sc. for the next two years. Similarly, CUSAT also offers a 3-year LLB program. It is a regular evening program, which can be pursued by the working candidates as well.

CUSAT Kochi Admission 2020 Important dates

The admission in various UG and Integrated courses is based on an entrance test known as CAT (Common Admission Test) which is conducted by CUSAT Kochi. For the convenience of candidates who are wishing to take admission the important dates and events are furnished in the table below.

CUSAT Kochi B.Tech/BBA-LLB/B.Com-LLB/LLB/ M.Sc (Integrated) Eligibility Criteria 2020

Eligibility for B.Tech/ B.Tech in Polymer Science and Engineering 

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination from the board of Kerala or equivalent board with Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as optional subjects securing at least 50% marks in Mathematics. Candidates also need to score at least 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry put together. Other candidates belonging from Kerala Scheduled Tribes(KST) or Kerala Schedule Caste(KSC) may also apply if they have scored the required percentage in the qualifying examination. SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination

B.Tech Marine Engineering Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination from Kerala State Board or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics along with English as separate subjects. PCM percentage should not be less than 60% marks and minimum 50% is required for Mathematics alone.  Candidates must have passed English at 10th or 12th standard with at least 50% marks. Maximum age limit decided by the university is 25 years as on 1st September of the year of admission. Physical and eye fitness certificate from a medical officer approved by the DG Shipping should be produced at the time of admission. 

B.Tech Naval Architecture and Ship Building/ B.Tech Instrumentation Technology Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination from Kerala State Board or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as separate subjects. PCM percentage should not be less than 60% marks and minimum 50% is required for Mathematics alone. Other candidates belonging from Kerala Scheduled Tribes(KST) or Kerala Schedule Caste(KSC) may also apply if they have scored the required percentage in the qualifying examination. SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.

Eligibility for B.Tech Lateral Entry

Candidates with any three year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education recognized by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks, will be considered for admission in B.Tech Lateral Entry and their maximum age should not exceed more than 25 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.

B.Voc Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination from any state board with at least 75% marks. Besides this, candidates must have studied any one of the Mathematics or Statistics as one of the optional subjects. SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.

BBA LLB/ B.COM LLB Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination with at least 60% marks including languages in commerce group/science group. Candidates who have scored 55% marks including languages in Arts/Humanities stream are also eligible to apply. Candidates belonging from any of the SC/ ST candidates or belongs to SEBC communities need to clear the 12th examination with at least 50% marks. The maximum age limit decided by the university is 20 years as on the 1st July of the year of Admission. The maximum age limit for SC/ SEBC and ST is 22 years. 

BBA(3 Years Program) Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must have cleared 12th with at least 50% aggregate. Besides this, candidates belonging from SC or ST categories must have cleared 12th with at least 45% aggregate.

CUSAT Kochi B.Tech/BBA-LLB/B.Com-LLB/LLB/ M.Sc (Integrated) Selection Process 2020

The selection in the aforesaid courses will be made on the basis of CUSAT CAT exam conducted by the university itself.

Once the result is declared, only qualified candidates in the test will have to register themselves for counselling and the counselling will be conducted by the authorities through online mode.

Seat allotment or selection is based on the rank secured by the candidates in the entrance exam, preference, and availability of seats. The selected candidates will have to download their seat allotment letter and candidates will have to confirm their admission by paying the required fee.

Selection in LLB at CUSAT is a little different, as it based on the CUSAT CAT score followed by group discussion and personal interview.

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination with at least 60% marks including languages in commerce group/science group. Candidates who have scored 55% marks including languages in Arts/Humanities stream are also eligible to apply. Candidates belonging from any of the SC/ ST candidates or belongs to SEBC communities need to clear the 12th examination with at least 50% marks. The maximum age limit decided by the university is 20 years as on the 1st July of the year of Admission. The maximum age limit for SC/ SEBC and ST is 22 years.

CUSAT Kochi B.Tech/BBA-LLB/B.Com-LLB/LLB/ M.Sc (Integrated) Selection Process 2020

The selection in the aforesaid courses will be made on the basis of CUSAT CAT exam conducted by the university itself.

Once the result is declared, only qualified candidates in the test will have to register themselves for counselling and the counselling will be conducted by the authorities through online mode.

Seat allotment or selection is based on the rank secured by the candidates in the entrance exam, preference, and availability of seats. The selected candidates will have to download their seat allotment letter and candidates will have to confirm their admission by paying the required fee.

Selection in LLB at CUSAT is a little different, as it based on the CUSAT CAT score followed by group discussion and personal interview.

• An OTP will be sent to the mobile number provided by you. You should log in with the OTP received on your phone and then change your password immediately. You should remember your username and password as it will be required to log in all the time.
• After that, you will be redirected to pay the application fee. Click on the “Online Payment” option. The application fee can be submitted through any of the online payment options including Netbanking, Debit Card or Credit Card.
• If you are applying for more than programs then you may submit applications for all the courses one by one however the application fee will be the same irrespective of the number of programs you are applying for admissions.

• No modifications are allowed once the application is submitted online.

Admission to all undergraduate courses is done on the basis of the CUSAT CAT score, while of Lateral Entry scheme for B.Tech. requires a candidate to clear CUSAT Exam. The dual degree or Integrated M.Sc. The program offered by CUSAT is a five-year course which includes B.Sc for the first 3 years and M.Sc. for the next two years. Similarly, CUSAT also offers a 3-year LLB program. It is a regular evening program, which can be pursued by the working candidates as well.

There are eight seats available. The candidates selected will receive a monthly Rs.12000/ stipend. The GATE score is not considered to be admitted to the course. MSc (5 years Integrated) Photonics Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination from the board of Kerala or equivalent board with Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as optional subjects securing a minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics. CUSAT, Kochi MSc (5 years Integrated) Photonics Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination with at least 75% marks from CBSE/ ICSE/ HSC or any other equivalent state board with science subjects(Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry). The university will provide priority to the students possessing KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) scholarship. These candidates are not required for CAT examination however they will have to complete the registration formalities. 

M.F.Sc Eligibility

Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries/Food Technology/ Food Science/Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Zoology with a minimum of 55% marks.

MCA Lateral Entry Eligibility Criteria 2020

MA Applied Economics Eligibility

MBA Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the MBA courses offered by the university, candidates should have passed Bachelor degree in any subject from a recognized university followed by a valid score card of any national or state-level management entrance examination such as CMAT, KMAT, etc.

Candidates who are seeking to take admission in M.Tech have to register on official website of GATE and fill the application form of Rs. 1500/- for male (all category), Rs. 750/- for women (all category) along with the required documents. The payment will be made through net banking/credit/debit card.  After the result, the shortlisted candidates will have to fill their preferred institute and course. The seats will be allotted on the basis of their rank secured in GATE exam and preference selected. Those who have not qualified GATE will have to appear in DAT conducted by the department concerned.

Selection to the courses offered by the CUSAT is either depends on the scores of entrance test conducted by the University itself or on any national/state level entrance exams scores which are accepted by the CUSAT.

The seat will be allotted on the basis of performance of the candidate in the entrance exam and according to the merit list. After the publication of final list of merit, all the qualified candidates will be called for group discussion and personal interview. M.Tech Selection Process

Selection of students in M.Tech course is based on the DAT/ GATE entrance exam. Students will be selected for M.Tech on the basis of merit.

M.Tech(Marine BioTechnology) Selection Process 

Candidates opting for admission in the course need to appear for the Entrance test conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on behalf of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. Only those candidates who cleared the test will be allowed for further admission rounds. Besides this, academic scores will also be considered for selection of the candidates.

MBA Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the MBA courses offered by the university, candidates should have passed Bachelor degree in any subject from a recognized university followed by a valid score card of any national or state-level management entrance examination such as CMAT, KMAT, etc.

Candidates also need to score a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry put together. 

CUSAT, Kochi MSc (5 years Integrated) Photonics Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination with at least 75% marks from CBSE/ ICSE/ HSC or any other equivalent state board with science subjects(Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry). The university will provide priority to the students possessing KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) scholarship. These candidates are not required for CAT examination however they will have to complete the registration formalities. 

M.F.Sc Eligibility

Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries/Food Technology/ Food Science/Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Zoology with a minimum of 55% marks.

M Voc. Technology and Management Consulting Eligibility

MCA Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates who have science in graduation with mathematics as one of the subjects or they have done graduation in Technology/ Engineering/ Computer Application/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics with at least 55% marks in all subjects other than language and humanities are eligible for admission.

There are eight seats available. The candidates selected will receive a monthly Rs.12000/ stipend. The GATE score is not considered to be admitted to the course. CUSAT, Kochi MSc (5 years Integrated) Photonics Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates must have cleared 12th examination with at least 75% marks from CBSE/ ICSE/ HSC or any other equivalent state board with science subjects(Physics, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry). The university will provide priority to the students possessing KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) scholarship. These candidates are not required for CAT examination however they will have to complete the registration formalities.
