The admission process for various courses offered by IIT Kharagpur begins on different dates. IIT Kharagpur releases the schedule for admission in various courses, and students have to complete the registration process for the courses as specified by the institute. At the same time, students must satisfy the eligibility criteria specified by the institute to register for various courses. Prior to applying for any of the courses, students need to check the eligibility criteria thoroughly and only if they are able to meet the criteria, they should proceed with the application process. Admission to all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses at IIT Kharagpur is through written entrance examinations.
Candidates aspiring for B.Tech admission in IIT Kharagpur must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology as the major subjects. The candidates must have a minimum of 50-60% of marks in Class 12 to register for admission.
Firstly, the candidates must clear JEE Main (Paper 1) exam. All the candidates who featured in the rank list of JEE Main Paper 1 shall be considered eligible for JEE Advanced. JEE Advanced is the entrance exam conducted for admission in B.Tech courses offered by IIT Kharagpur. The candidates must clear JEE Advanced to be eligible for the admission process.

The admission process is strictly based on the merit of the candidates. The candidates must participate in the counselling process conducted by JoSAA. The seat allotment will be done as per the rank secured by the candidates in JEE Advanced. At the same time, allotment of the seat is subject to the availability of seats in IITs.

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the online test. Selected candidates will be called for an Interview.
Candidates must have completed a Bachelors degree in Technology / Engineering/ Medicine or equivalent. OR Masters in Pharmacy or Science or equivalent. OR MBA with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWD) in aggregate
Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the online test. Selected candidates will be called for an Interview.
Candidates must have completed Graduation from a recognised university with a Bachelor's in Architecture/ Engineering/ Technology/ MSc or equivalent professional degrees (AMIE etc.) with at least 60 % aggregate (or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10 point scale) and 55 % aggregate for SC/ ST/ PWD
Candidates who have applied for M.Tech admissions at IIT Kharagpur need to appear for the GATE entrance exam for MTech Admission. Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Personal Interview (PI) Round. For the final selection, 70% weightage will be provided to the GATE scores and 30% to the Personal Interview round. BTech students from IITs with a minimum CGPA of 8 are exempted from the requirement of a GATE score
Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology or Master's degree in Science, Economics or Commerce (with Maths or Stats at Bachelor's level) with at least 60% marks (55% marks for reserved categories)
Candidates will have to appear for Common Admission Test(CAT) exam. Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Personal Interview. Final selection will be done on the basis of candidates' performance in the CAT exam, Academic Performance and PI rounds. Candidates must hold a 3 years of experience and a 1st class Bachelor’s degree in Technology/ Engineering or a 1st class Master’s degree in Economics, Science or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics with 60% aggregate marks
Candidates who have applied for Executive MBA admissions at IIT Kharagpur will be selected on the basis of their performance in written test and personal interview.
Candidates must have completed graduation or master degree holder from a recognised university with a minimum of 60 % aggregate marks
Admission to the PGDBA program will be done on the basis of the Entrance test. Selected candidates will be called for a Personal Interview. IIT Kharagpur also considers other factors for final selection such as Past Academic Performance and Work Experience. Provided below is the weightage provided to all the selection parameters.
