IIT Jammu - Admission 2024, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

IIT Jammu has commenced the admission process for the academic year 2024. The registration for JEE Main 2024 session 2 has started on February 2, 2024 and the last date to apply is March 2, 2024. Candidates have to first appear for JEE Main and then JEE Advanced for B.Tech admissions at IIT Jammu. JEE Advanced 2024 will be conducted on May 26, 2024 for IIT Jammu admission in BTech courses.

The IIT Jammu courses include a 4-year B.Tech, 2 year M.Tech Course across various engineering disciplines along with a Ph.D. in all the departments. There is a strong focus on Laboratory & Project based learning for students at the institute. IIT Jammu fees differ on the basis of the course structure and duration as well as the family income of the candidates. The fee ranges from Rs 44,620 to Rs 1,49,075. 

For the IIT Jammu placements 2023, the placement rate was 83% and the highest CTC stood at Rs 52 lakh per annum. Some of the top recruiters were Microsoft, Amazon, Paytm, and, Toppr.

IIT Jammu ranking 2023 as per the NIRF 2023 is 67 for the Engineering category. Moreover, the NIRF score for 2023 is 48.15. In 2022, the institute was not on the NIRF Ranking list since it is one of the new IITs formed. It has made progress in the year 2023 by getting the 67th position in the engineering category.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is one of the most reputed ranking bodies in the country. It is approved by the MHRD and ranks institutions under various categories. The IIT Jammu NIRF Ranking for 2023 is 67th for the Engineering category along with a score of 48.15. During the 2022 NIRF rankings, the institute was not placed on the ranking list. 

IIT Jammu admission criteria for UG courses at Indian Institute of Technology Jammu requires students to be 12th pass or have an equivalent degree from any recognised Board along with a valid score in the JEE Advanced. The registration window for JEE Advanced 2024, will open from April 21 to 30, 2024. The examination will be held on May 26, 2024. Eligibility criteria for IIT Jammu admissions to M.Tech requires a valid GATE score are eligible for admission. GATE 2024 will be conducted on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024.

IIT Jammu Application Process 2023

The application process at the Indian Institute of Technology Jammu starts with filling out the admission form online. Students are advised to check their eligibility and selection criteria prior to form filing. 

UG Programmes

• The IIT Jammu application process for UG courses is done on the basis of Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) rank which then is administered by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) with a centralised counselling process which is conducted by JoSAA at the all-India level in which candidates are allowed to choose the institution and course of their choice. Then, on the basis of their rank in JEE Advanced and the availability of the seats, admission is granted.

PG Programmes

• The application process is done on the basis of GATE and IIT JAM rank for Mtech and MSc courses respectively.  When the result of entrance exams are out, candidates can apply for the same on IIT Jammu admission portal. Students, besides filling up the application form of IIT Jammu, are required to register at COAP. All participating institutes of National Importance publish seat allotment results on this portal only. Once they are granted admission in the institution of their choice, candidates need to follow the college website for further updates regarding physical reporting and fee payment.

PhD Programmes

• The admission to PhD programmes at IIT Jammu is done on the basis of UGC/ CSIR NET (JRF) examination/ SET/ GATE/ Teacher Research Fellowship scores. Candidates are required to follow the following process for IIT Jammu PhD admission:

• Click on PhD admission
• Register yourself with valid phone number and email id
• Login the portal with credentials sent to your mail id
• Fill the IIT Jammu application form accordingly as asked
• Upload the required documents
• Pay the application fee of Rs 1000 through net banking or debit card or credit card
• Check the website for further updates
• If shortlisted, attend the selection process of IIT Jammu which can be a written test, presentation or a personal or professional interview
• Upon selection collect your offer letter and pay the course fee after document verification at the time of physical reporting.

The IIT Jammu cutoff 2023 for B.Tech round 6 has been declared by JoSAA on July 28, 2023. Based on the JEE Advanced scores of candidates, the cutoff has been released in the form of Opening and Closing Ranks. For the IIT Jammu placements 2023, the highest package offered for the BTech as well as MTech batch was Rs 52 lakh per annum. 155 students participated in the placement drive and 220+ job offers were made. Indian Institute of Technology Jammu scholarships are provided through the Government of India’s Department of Social Justice and Empowerment to economically disadvantaged students from the OBC, SC, ST, and Minority categories. The institution offers 3 kinds of scholarships for B.Tech students. These are:

2. Freeship
3. Free Messing

Merit Cum Means Scholarship 

Through Merit Cum Means Scholarships at IIT Jammu, the tuition fee of eligible students is 100% refundable and also students get Rs 1000 per month. Below is the eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship:

• The MCM scholarship is available for General, OBC-NCL and EWS Category students only. 
• For the first year students the JEE Advanced Rank is considered for determining the merit for scholarship.
• For 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students, the SGPA & CGPA each should be more than 6.0 and with total backlog courses less than 2 is considered as eligibility criteria for MCM scholarship. 
• The Gross Annual Income of the family should be less than Rs 4.50 Lakh.

Free Messing Scholarship 

All the students belonging to SC and ST category at IIT Jammu are exempted from paying tuition fees each semester as part of this IIT Jammu scholarship scheme. The facility of free messing and a pocket allowance of Rs 250 per month is also released for each Semester. Below is the eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship:

• The Gross Annual Income of the family should be less than Rs 4.50 Lakh.

Freeship Scholarship 

According to the freeship scholarship at IIT Jammu, students are eligible for remission of tuition fee. Below is the eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship:

• The freeship scholarship is available to General, OBC-NCL and EWS Category students only who are exempted from other scholarships
• For the first-year students the JEE Advanced Rank is considered for determining the merit for scholarship.
• For 2nd, 3rd and 4th-year students, the SGPA & CGPA each should be more than 6.0 and with total backlog courses less than 2 is considered as eligibility criteria for MCM scholarship. 
• The Gross Annual Income of the family should be between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4.50 lakh to avail of this IIT Jammu scholarship.

The PhD students at IIT Jammu are granted stipends/scholarships in accordance with the MHRD regulations. The stipend in the first two years of the PhD Degree is Rs 31,000 per month while for the senior years, the student stipend for PhD fellows is Rs 35,000 per month. To be eligible for this student stipend, any UG/ PG student has to put in specified hours of academic work under a professor/supervisor. Only after the submission of a certificate, verified by the allocated supervisor, the scholarship is to be paid, attesting to the satisfactory performance of the allocated responsibilities.

The 400-acre lush green Jagti campus of Indian Institute of Technology Jammu, is about 20 km away from Jammu airport and Railway Station. The IIT Jammu result 2023 based on the JEE Advanced exam was released on June 18, 2023. The result is applicable for admission to its B.Tech courses in various specialisations. The IIT JEE Advanced Result 2023 was announced by IIT Guwahati, which was the conducting body of the exam for 2023. The result was available on the official website jeeadv.ac.in. Students can access the results using their date of birth, phone number, and, roll number on this site. The steps to be followed to view the results are mentioned below. 

Step 1: Go to the official website of JEE Advanced 2023 which is jeeadv.ac.in

Step 2: Enter the required details like your phone number, date of birth, username, and, password.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Submit’ button and the IIT Jammu JEE Advanced Result will be displayed. 

Step 4: Download the scorecard for future reference. The scorecards will not be sent to candidates by post, thus, they must have a printout of the same after downloading it.
