IIT Jammu - Admission 2025, Fees, Courses, Cutoff, Placement, Ranking

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu was established in 2016 and is one of the new generations IITs. Even after being amongst the new colleges, IIT Jammu has secured itself a rank of 62 in the NIRF ranking 2024. IITJ offers courses in various disciplines like BTech, MTech and doctoral courses. Admissions to these courses takes place through national level entrance exams like JEE Advanced, GATE, etc. GATE applications for this year have already been closed, for next year the applications will open in the last week of August with the exam being conducted in February 2026. JoSAA counselling based on JEE Mains/ Advanced scores is still ongoing. Candidates can check the official website of JoSAA to see their results. Admissions take place through JoSAA counselling for BTech and CCMT counselling for MTech. There is a strong focus on Laboratory & Project-based learning for students at the institute. IIT Jammu fees differ on the basis of the course structure and duration as well as the family income of the candidates. The fee ranges from Rs 44,620 to Rs 1,49,075. 

The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu is an Indian Government funded autonomous public higher education Institute. IIT Jammu functions under the governance of the IIT Council.  IIT Jammu ensures that the students studying in it understand the practical application of their theoretical knowledge by empowering them with the facilities that enable experimentation and innovation. In the placement drive of 2024-25, a total of 175 companies visited the campus, 132 students received offers, with highest package being 53 LPA and average package being 19LPA

Indian Institute of Technology Jammu scholarships are provided through the Government of India’s Department of Social Justice and Empowerment to economically disadvantaged students from the OBC, SC, ST, and Minority categories. The institution offers 3 kinds of scholarships for B.Tech students. These are:

1. Merit Cum Means Scholarship
2. Freeship
3. Free Messing

Merit Cum Means Scholarship 

Through Merit Cum Means Scholarships at IIT Jammu, the tuition fee of eligible students is 100% refundable and also students get Rs 1000 per month. Below is the eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship:

• The MCM scholarship is available for General, OBC-NCL and EWS Category students only. 
• For the first year students the JEE Advanced Rank is considered for determining the merit for scholarship.
• For 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students, the SGPA & CGPA each should be more than 6.0 and with total backlog courses less than 2 is considered as eligibility criteria for MCM scholarship. 
• The Gross Annual Income of the family should be less than Rs 4.50 Lakh.

Free Messing Scholarship 

All the students belonging to SC and ST category at IIT Jammu are exempted from paying tuition fees each semester as part of this IIT Jammu scholarship scheme. The facility of free messing and a pocket allowance of Rs 250 per month is also released for each Semester. Below is the eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship:

• The Gross Annual Income of the family should be less than Rs 4.50 Lakh.

Freeship Scholarship 

According to the freeship scholarship at IIT Jammu, students are eligible for remission of tuition fee. Below is the eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship:

• The freeship scholarship is available to General, OBC-NCL and EWS Category students only who are exempted from other scholarships
• For the first-year students the JEE Advanced Rank is considered for determining the merit for scholarship.
• For 2nd, 3rd and 4th-year students, the SGPA & CGPA each should be more than 6.0 and with total backlog courses less than 2 is considered as eligibility criteria for MCM scholarship. 
• The Gross Annual Income of the family should be between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4.50 lakh to avail of this IIT Jammu scholarship.

The PhD students at IIT Jammu are granted stipends/scholarships in accordance with the MHRD regulations. The stipend in the first two years of the PhD Degree is Rs 31,000 per month while for the senior years, the student stipend for PhD fellows is Rs 35,000 per month. To be eligible for this student stipend, any UG/ PG student has to put in specified hours of academic work under a professor/supervisor. Only after the submission of a certificate, verified by the allocated supervisor, the scholarship is to be paid, attesting to the satisfactory performance of the allocated responsibilities.

The IIT Jammu result 2023 based on the JEE Advanced exam was released on June 18, 2023. The result is applicable for admission to its B.Tech courses in various specialisations. The IIT JEE Advanced Result 2023 was announced by IIT Guwahati, which was the conducting body of the exam for 2023. The result was available on the official website jeeadv.ac.in. Students can access the results using their date of birth, phone number, and, roll number on this site. The steps to be followed to view the results are mentioned below. 

Step 1: Go to the official website of JEE Advanced 2023 which is jeeadv.ac.in

Step 2: Enter the required details like your phone number, date of birth, username, and, password.

Step 3: Click on the ‘Submit’ button and the IIT Jammu JEE Advanced Result will be displayed. 

Step 4: Download the scorecard for future reference. The scorecards will not be sent to candidates by post, thus, they must have a printout of the same after downloading it.
