NIT Delhi Admission 2026 - Dates, Form, Online Process, Fees

NIT Delhi Admission 2025- BTech admission in NIT Delhi is done based on JEE Main followed by JoSAA counselling. JoSAA counselling has started for this year admissions on June 3, 2025 with Round 1 being completed on June 22, 2025, round 2 verification being scheduled on June 29,2025 while round 3 results are to be released by July 3, 2025. GATE exam is accepted for MTech admission in NIT Delhi. GATE 2026 exam tentative dates are February 7, 8, 14, and 15 2026 and the registration process is all set to begin in August, 2025. 

NIT Delhi offers admission in BTech, MTech and PhD programs. The candidates mostly opt for NIT Delhi BTech course, a 4 year course which offers 6 specializations in BTech and 8 specializations in MTech. Candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria to secure a seat in any of the NIT Delhi courses. Home state quota is given to Delhi candidates The aspirants need to appear for entrance exams like JEE Mains, GATE, UGC-NET, etc. for NIT Delhi admission. 

Candidates seeking admission in NIT Delhi have to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria before applying for their desired course. The eligibility criteria for BTech courses includes at least 75% marks in class 12th done form a recognized board while for MTech, a candidate must have a BTech degree.

NIT Delhi BTech Selection Criteria

• Selection is done on the basis of the score obtained in the JEE Main exam.
• Seat is allotted on the basis of previous academic records and performance in the JoSAA counseling.

• The system generated application number needs to be noted
• Create a password 
• Log in with the application number and the password created
• Fill out the NIT Delhi application form 
• Upload the scanned copies of the documents required
• Pay the application fee of Rs 650 (For reserved categories : Rs 395) through debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI or Paytm. 
• Submit the application 
• Take a print out of the application  

The institute offers a 2-year MTech programme offering 8 different specializations. NIT Delhi M.Tech fees is Rs 1,19000 per year. NIT Delhi admission in the MTech course is offered on the basis of the GATE examination. This is followed by a counselling session conducted by CCMT.

The admission to the PhD course is offered in 6 departments which include Applied Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Humanities and Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. 

NIT Delhi PhD Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates applying for the PhD programme must have master's degree in engineering / technology disciplines.
• Candidates must have secured 60% aggregate marks or CGPA of 6.5/10 for Open / OBC category, and 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 6.0 for SC/ST candidates, in UG and in PG.
• Aspirants who are appearing for their final year exam can apply as well provided they have no backlog papers.

NIT Delhi PhD Selection Criteria

• The selection to the PhD course is done after Screening of the application, Entrance Test, and Interview.
• Screening of the application is done by the screening committee.
• The candidates who get shortlisted are expected to appear for the entrance test and interview.
• Candidates are declared qualified only on securing a minimum of 40% marks.
• Candidates who have relevant work experience, experience in project work & thesis, and performs well in the interview are given the first preference.

• The application will be verified by the screening committee.
