IIT Kharagpur offers 100% placement assistance to students. Usually, the first phase of placements at IIT Kharagpur begins in December every year, while the second phase begins in January. Reports state that there had been a total of 144 companies that have participated in the first five days of the 2020 placement drive at IIT Kharagpur. IIT Kharagpur also saw large participation from international companies as well, with Japanese companies expressing their interest in the students.

There had been a total of 51 international offers that have been made to the students during the IIT Kharagpur 2020 placement drive. Japanese led the way, with the US and Taiwanese companies following the trend as well.

Students had been offered job profiles in different sectors during the current placement session. Some of the sectors where the IIT Kharagpur students have been placed include Core Engineering sectors along with sectors such as hardware, software, consulting, finance and banking sectors.

The Placement Cell at IIT Kharagpur has also announced that the students have also received a total of 280 pre-placement offers as well. Among the companies that have selected the students, various Public Sector Units have also made 19 offers. 

Phase 1 of IIT Kharagpur Placements 2019-20 is scheduled to be conducted till December 11, 2019. The second phase of the IIT Kharagpur placements has been scheduled to begin in the first week of January 2020.

The Phase 1 placements of IIT Kharagpur were completed on December 14, 2018. A total of 192 companies participated in the campus recruitment process and made1,275 offers.

IIT Kharagpur placement process for the graduating batch of 2018-19 has commenced on a positive note. The Phase 1 placement process of IIT Kharagpur, which began on December 01, 2018, witnessed the participation of popular companies and lucrative job offers. On the first day of IIT Kharagpur placements, almost 400 job offers were made to students. So far,362 companies have registered for IIT Kharagpur placements 2018-19, and are offering jobs in almost 618 job profiles. 

Out of 400 offers made to students,256 were PPOs (Pre-Placement Offers). Qualcomm and Microsoft dominated the Day 1 placement at IIT Kharagpur with 21 offers.

On the first day of IIT Kharagpur placements 2018-19, 12 international offers were made to students by popular companies such as Microsoft (4 offers) and Mercury Japan (6 offers). 

More than16 new companies participated in IIT Kharagpur placements 2018-19, and some of them were Bidgely, Blackrock, AB InBev, and ARPWood Capital.

Japanese Firms at IIT Kharagpur International Placements 2018-19

By the end of the sixth day of IIT Kharagpur placements 2018-19, Japan emerged as the top international recruiter with the maximum number of offers. So far, various international companies made 23 offers to IIT Kharagpur students, out of which 11 offers were made by four Japanese companies. Rakuten is another Japanese firm that will take part in IIT Kharagpur placements 2018-19. A total of five Japanese companies are expected to make 50% of international offers to IIT Kharagpur students this year. 

German companies participated in IIT Kharagpur placements for the first time with two international offers. 

The total number of companies that took part in IIT Kharagpur placements 2018-19 in the first six days was 112. The total number of offers crossed 1,000 in the first six days, which is the highest among the older IITs.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur more commonly known as IIT, Kharagpur started its placement process with 36 companies participating in the hiring process on the first day. More than 1000 students got placed out of which 22 were overseas posts. Apple Inc. made its first appearance at IIT Kharagpur and recruited five students for its Bangalore division. Quantity Analytics has emerged as the major recruiter so far with 34 job offers. Second, in line was Intel with 33 job offers. ONGC and ISRO made 13 offers during the early placement season.
