With the CLAT 2025 exam approaching, all the aspirants must be looking out for some of the best private law colleges accepting CLAT scores.

Due to the popularity and the ever expanding competition of the CLAT it is not easy for every candidate to score well and get admission in national law universities situated in India. Therefore, many private colleges and universities can also be considered by the candidate if they have qualified the CLAT.

Factors to be Considered while Selecting a Private Law College on the Basis of CLAT

There are numerous factors that need to be considered while selecting a private law college on the basis of CLAT scores. Some of these determinants are mentioned below. Candidates are requested to go through the information provided carefully and be mindful of these factors while selecting a private law college:

  • Firstly, candidates must know about the NIRF Rank and NAAC Grade of the college. It is very important to take admission in a reputable college as it impacts a candidate's placement and career prospects.
  • The next important thing is to know about the internship and placement statistics. Before taking admission, it is advised to go through 2 to 3 past years of internship and placement record of the private institute. Calculate ROI based upon the fees you are giving and then make the decision.
  • Another important aspect is the curriculum, the curriculum of the law college must be in accordance with the legal education standards of the country. The curriculum must be latest and advanced and should provide skills for a bright future.
  • Further, one should also be sure of the faculty. Having been taught by professors who have a great academic record and years of experience is in itself a great achievement.
  • Another important factor is the fees of the college. The college fees should be the average fees accepted by all the private colleges.
  • Last but not the least is the infrastructure of the college as well as the location of the college. These factors must be kept in mind while selecting a private law college.

Pros & Cons of Studying From Non-NLUs

Like there are two sides to every coin, similarly studying law from Non-NLUs has merits as well as demerits.

Many private law schools have made a name for themselves as the nation's top law schools and are on par with NLUs. For instance, the top NIRF 2022 rankings also include the Symbiosis School of Law. Private law schools offer better facilities, modern pedagogy, and teaching techniques that enable students to comprehend the subject by delving deeply into it. Following are a few benefits of attending private law schools:

  • The non-NLUs are leading private law schools/ universities in India and have all amenities. The colleges have air-conditioned classrooms, e-learning capabilities, and audio-visual learning experiences. All campuses of these law schools have basic facilities that students need.
  • The NLU students face peer pressure, and social anxiety, are on the edge of breakdown, and even have pressure from relatives. With this, the students might have also taken loans to pay their tuition fees, which adds to the mental stress. However, students from non-NLU backgrounds usually do not face such stress.

A few of the cons of studying from a non-NLU institution are mentioned below:

  • Private law colleges have extraordinarily high tuition costs. The cost of law studies is not regulated, thus some private universities and institutions may charge up to Rs. 7 lakh a year. People from all socioeconomic classes seem to find it quite difficult to cover such high expenditures. At most private colleges, the average annual cost of admission may reach Rs. 5 lakh.
  • Some students may find it difficult to complete the extensive course offerings of some universities.
  • Some colleges may require students to find their own internships. Although campus placements are offered by the institutes, students still need to find their own internships.

Aspirants are required to weigh all the possibilities and be equipped with a thorough understanding of private law colleges accepting CLAT scores before making a firm decision. Click here to know more about the pros and cons of pursuing law from Non-NLUs and NLUs!
