Birsa Institute of Technology Sindri (BIT Sindri), originally Bihar Institute of Technology Sindri, is a Jharkhand-based engineering college. BIT Sindri is one of India's oldest engineering and technological institutes, having been founded in 1949.
BIT Sindri is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is affiliated with Vinoba Bhave University’s engineering college in Hazaribag, Jharkhand.
BIT Sindri offers four-year BTech programmes in 10 different specializations at the undergraduate level and two-year MTech programmes in five specializations at the postgraduate level. The college also offers a three-year PhD programme.
BIT Sindri is ranked 201-250 for BTech by NIRF 2021. In 2020, ARIIA Public Institution (Govt. / Govt. Aided Colleges) ranked the college 6-25. The college was ranked 30th amongst India’s best engineering colleges by Outlook in 2019.
