NIT Rourkela Cutoff 2026

NIT Rourkela cutoff 2026 is likely to remain competitive across its programmes owing to steady demand and increasing applicant strength. For BTech and related courses (BTech + MTech, BArch), lower JEE Main ranks will likely be required as more aspirants target core engineering and emerging branches. For postgraduate streams like MTech and M.Sc, competition will stay firm because admissions rely on national-level exams, such as GATE for MTech, IIT-JAM for M.Sc, etc. Prospective students should be prepared for relatively tough cutoff bars in popular courses, while niche or less-demanded disciplines may offer a bit more flexibility.

The NIT Rourkela admission requires the candidates to have a minimum of 75% in 10+2 with PCM as compulsory subjects, followed by JEE Main scorecard for BTech, while for MTech and MBA, a minimum of 60% is required in graduation. Any graduate can pursue an MBA at NIT Rourkela, but for MTech, B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc in relevant subject is required.

NIT Rourkela JEE Main Cutoff 2026 (Expected)

NIT Rourkela JEE Main 2026 cutoff across BTech, BTech + MTech Dual Degree, Integrated MSc, and BArch programmes is expected to tighten moderately as overall applicant competition increases in the upcoming admission cycle. High-demand streams such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Electronics & Communication Engineering in the BTech category will likely see the sharpest shifts.

Integrated MSc and BTech + MTech programmes are projected to show predictable, stable year-on-year patterns. The BArch cutoff may also experience slight tightening due to steady interest among architecture aspirants. Collectively, the cutoff movement across all programmes in 2026 is expected to rise modestly, influenced by stronger applicant pools and consistent demand for multidisciplinary technical pathways.

  • BTech programmes such as CSE and ECE may see a 2–7% tightening, reflecting increased preference for software, AI, and semiconductor-orientated disciplines.
  • BTech + MTech Dual Degree streams are likely to record a 1–4% cutoff rise, with Chemical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering showing slightly higher competitiveness than the previous cycle.
  • Integrated MSc programmes may experience a 2–6% change, with chemistry and life science tightening while mathematics and physics remain comparatively stable or slightly relaxed.
  • BArch is expected to show a 5–10% cutoff rise for general category applicants, indicating mildly increased demand but remaining within a predictable competitive band.

NIT Rourkela BTech JEE Main 2026 Cutoff (Expected)

NIT Rourkela BTech cutoff 2026 will likely tighten moderately across high-demand branches, driven by the rising number of top-rankers preferring established NITs over newer IITs. With the 2025 closing rank for CSE at 3431, the institute may experience a further upward shift in competitive branches such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Electronics & Communication Engineering. Branches like mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, biotechnology, and metallurgical engineering are expected to show only marginal changes, as their 2025 trends indicate relatively stable demand. Overall, the 2026 cutoffs are expected to move slightly upward in most branches, reflecting stronger competition while still maintaining predictable year-on-year variation.

  • CSE may see a 4–7% rise from its 2025 closing rank of 3431 due to higher applicant concentration in software-orientated streams.
  • Electronics & Communication Engineering is likely to record a 2–5% tightening as interest in semiconductor-driven careers grows.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Engineering may show a 1–3% fluctuation, remaining largely stable because of consistent yet moderate applicant demand.
  • Lower-demand branches like Biotechnology, Metallurgy, and Mining may experience a 0–2% relaxation, maintaining easier accessibility compared with top-tier branches.

Hi, for admission to NIT Rourkela's Integrated B.Sc. + M.Sc. Mathematics program, your score in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is the main determinant. The amount of candidates, available seats, and general exam difficulty are some of the variables that can affect the precise percentile needed each year.

Closing ranks from the previous year: The closing rankings from prior years can give a broad indication of the necessary performance, even though the precise percentiles are not made public:

  • The Integrated B.Sc. + M.Sc. Mathematics program's finishing rank for the 2023 academic year was roughly 83,330.
  • The closing ranks for the 2024 academic year were reported to range between 23,934 and 62,446.

Estimating the Required Percentile:

The total number of candidates and the distribution of scores both influence JEE Main rankings. Given that the 2024 closing ranks were between 24,000 and 62,000, aiming for a rank in this range would increase your chances of acceptance. Typically, a ranking in the top 25,000 is considered competitive for this program.

Note: The cutoff ranks and admission criteria are subject to change every year.

I hope this is helpful!
