Eligibility Criteria and Scheme Details

    Lovely Professional University strongly believes in the fact that monetary constraints should not be an obstacle for a student to have access to quality education. Therefore, the University extends Scholarship Schemes to students on various parameters. The scholarship at LPU can be availed for all the programmes offered at the university, ranging from Diploma to Ph.D. In the last year itself, the students have been awarded scholarships worth Rs. 100+ crores.

    Scholarship Categories at LPU

    The scholarships are awarded to candidates based on their performance in any of the following categories:

    • Eligibility Qualification
    • Certain National Level Tests
    • LPUNEST (LPU National Entrance & Scholarship Test)
    • On the basis of Performance in LPUNEST (Ph.D)
    • Performance in Sports, Cultural, R&D, Co-curricular, Social Service and Bravery Awards
    • Special Scholarships and/or Fee Concessions

    Eligibility Qualification

      The scholarship will be offered on the basis of eligibility qualification. Candidates who meet all the conditions stated can apply for the scholarship under this category.

        LPUNEST (LPU National Entrance & Scholarship Test)

          Scholarship for a specific Programme depends on Performance in LPUNEST. There are three brackets:

          1. LPUNEST score more than or equal to Category I cut-off
          2. LPUNEST score more than or equal to Category II cut-off
          3. LPUNEST score more than or equal to Category III cut-off

          Note: LPU defines different phases of admissions depending on the time an applicant registers himself/ herself for admission to the university. The scholarship as mentioned in the above table is for the first phase of admissions at LPU. The subsequent phases of admission may be defined as per the availability of seats, where the scholarship will be reduced. Scholarship Percentage for Hons./ Integrated Programmes will be the same as the corresponding regular programme.

          On the basis of Performance in LPUNEST (Ph.D)

            The categories of scholarship are based upon performance in LPUNEST (Ph.D) The cut-off for each category will be announced along with the result of the respective schedule. The scholarship details are as per the following table:

            Note: An applicant seeking test (LPUNEST (Ph.D) exemption on the basis of UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF)/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) examination/ SLET (Punjab only)/ GATE/ GPAT/ ICAR (NET), Teacher Fellowship holder or passed M.Phil. Programme (in the Regular mode only) may appear for LPUNEST (Ph.D) in order to avail the scholarships as mentioned above. The result of scholarship for Ph.D applicants will be declared along with the Ph.D interview results. Scholarships up to 90% of programme fee are offered to research associates in centrally funded labs, Professionals working in Industry/Corporate/Teaching and candidates with various research achievements.

                **Toppers of Education Board

                Category - A: Where board awards one rank to one student only. Top 20 rank holders of that board will be considered for the scholarship.

                Category - B: Where board awards the same rank to multiple students.

                • When the number of students is less than or equal to 20 in the merit list, then all the 20 students will be eligible for the scholarship under this scholarship scheme.
                • When the number of students is more than 20 in the merit list, then the scholarship will be awarded to students scoring at least 97% marks and to a maximum of 200 students from the list.
                • When the number of students is more than 20 in the merit list and no student has scored more than 97% marks, the equivalent cut-off percentage will be computed taking 100% as base as per following criteria

                  Equivalency Example: In case any topper has scored 95.20% marks, it will be considered equivalent to 100% and cut-off (equivalent to 97%) will be calculated as (95.2*97)/100= 92.32 %.

                Category - C: Open Board, students must have scored at least 90% marks and above conditions will be applicable as per the merit list.

                Note: Scholarship brackets and/or Phases are not applicable for special scholarship and /or fee concession.

                  Scholarship Brackets

                  For each category, there are three brackets of Scholarship (Bracket 1, 2 and 3) that are defined. Each bracket has its own respective criteria that need to be met for availing the applicable scholarship. Therefore, the students meeting the requirement of Bracket- 1 gets the highest Scholarship and those in Bracket - 2 or 3 get a relatively lesser scholarship amount.

                  Scholarship Phases

                  Admissions in LPU are done in different phases, which are bifurcations of the admission time period. The amount of scholarship also depends on the phase in which the candidate takes admission to the university. Phase I starts as early as January and continues till the end of April. The subsequent phases, Phase II, III, IV, and V, are conducted only if the seats in the concerned programme remain vacant. The amount of scholarship reduces with each passing phase and no scholarship is offered in Phase V (if conducted).

                  What is the scholarship scheme for B.Tech at LPU?

                  Students who have more than 90% marks in class 12th/ over 90 percentile in JEE Main/ more than or equal to Category 1 cut off of LPUNEST are given a fee waiver of 50%. Those who score between 80% and 89.9% in class 12th/ have 85 - 90 percentile in JEE Main/ have an LPUNEST score of more than or equal to Category 2 cut off can avail a fee waiver of 40%. A discount of 30% in total fee is given to candidates who have 70% - 79.9% marks in class 12th/ JEE Main score between 80 and 84.99 percentile/ LPUNEST score of more than or equal to Category 3 cut off.

                  How much fee waiver is offered to students at LPU on the basis of their merit?

                  LPU gives 50% fee waiver to students who score above 90% marks, 40% fee waiver to those who have aggregate marks between 80% and 89.9%, and 30% fee waiver to candidates whose marks fall in the range of 70% and 79.9%.

                  Does LPU provide financial assistance to its students?

                  Yes, LPU has several scholarship schemes that are aimed at supporting the students financially. These scholarships are given on the basis of merit and need.
