CAT 2020 Cutoff for Top Private MBA Colleges for General, SC/ST, OBC

Clearing the CAT 2020 Cutoff for top MBA colleges is a hurdle that every MBA aspirant wants to clear. Only the candidates who clear the CAT 2020 cutoff will get a shot at admission in some of the best MBA colleges in India that accept CAT score for admission. Before we move on to the information about the cutoff for reserved seats in MBA colleges, let's take a brief dive into the reservation policy for MBA colleges.

What is the reservation policy for MBA colleges and who decides it?

For SC, ST and OBC candidates, there is a provision for reservation in MBA colleges in India. A percentage of seats in MBA colleges is reserved for candidates belonging to the categories mentioned above. For government aided and autonomous (unaided) colleges, reservation is provided as per the rules prescribed by the government. But private MBA colleges are free to declare their own reservation policy.

What is the CAT 2020 cutoff for SC, ST and OBC candidates?

The CAT 2020 cutoff for SC, ST and OBC candidates signifies the minimum marks a candidate must have to be shortlisted for the admission process of b-schools for reserved category seats. If an SC, ST or OBC candidate applies for  General seat, he/she will have to clear the General cutoff only

Who releases the category-wise CAT cut off?

Every CAT 2020 participating college releases their own cutoff for CAT 2020 based on which they call applicants for the GD/PI process. The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) individually release their own IIM CAT Category-Wise Cutoff and so does every other b-school in India accepting CAT scores.

Do private MBA colleges have a reservation for SC, ST and OBC candidates?

Most of the top private MBA colleges India do not have a reservation policy for candidates. Reservation policy will only be found in either autonomous colleges or colleges accepting MBA reservations under state quota for admissions carried out by DTE of their respective state. Hence, candidates will find that the category-wise CAT cutoff for most of the private MBA colleges is the same for all the categories.
